5-0 out of 5 stars A Colonial Christmas
With the loss of Colonial Homes magazine, Christmas ideas with a American colonial theme are becoming rare. The Colonial Williamsburg Foundation along with Libby Hodges Oliver and Mary Miley Theobald have created not only a historical account of early American celebrations, but a beautifully designed and photographed book. Decorating starts outside with simple wreaths and pine roping to more elaborate fruited creations.Inside the greenery continues along with ideas on table decorations, the Christmas feast and best way to spoil Christmas guests.Chapters cover candles to Christmas trees along with colonial revival and twenty first century interpretations. This book will be a welcome inspiration for anyone looking for Christmas ideas and traditions.

5-0 out of 5 stars Have yourself a Williamsburg Christmas
Informative (and occasionally surprising!) text accompanied by exquisite photographs of the holiday decorating style known as Colonial Williamsburg.5-0 out of 5 stars Christmas in Williamsburg is beautiful

5-0 out of 5 stars It may be the only book I need!
I ordered four or five books about Wedding Day flower arrangements, as I'm determined to do my own. When I received this in the mail, I was extremely impressed by how well everything is illustrated and explained. It makes it all seem very managable.
1-0 out of 5 stars Save your money
I read the reviews and thought this would be a helpful book, it wasn't. The designs are outdated, the instructions aren't clear. I actually found better instructions on the internet for free!!! Even the pictures aren't that great to look at.

3-0 out of 5 stars Helpful for Beginners
When my daughter took her ideas for her wedding to our local florists, the estimates were over $3,000. When we finished laughing, we bought this book. Even though we had very little previous experience with florals, with a little practice we were able to make quite a few of the things she wanted ourselves. And perhaps more importantly, we were also able to determine what we couldn't do ourselves, and how best to work with a professional florist.Read more

4-0 out of 5 stars It's Classic Martha!
Even if you aren't a true fan of Martha, you will enjoy her book filled with decorating and crafting ideas that you can either incorporate into your own traditions or expound upon to revise them to your personal taste.4-0 out of 5 stars Pretty to look at !
I have found that Martha Stewart books are to be viewed rather than used as a basis for trying to make anything because her instructions and recipes are often convoluted and/or incorrect.I just do not understand why, with her vast resources, Martha does not hire better and more thorough editors and testers.4-0 out of 5 stars Pretty neat stuff in here!
Although, like the rest of the "Christmas with Martha Stewart" books, they are republished features from the magazine, this one is pretty good. You do not have to use red and green every year; Silver, white, and even pastel colors can be used festively.I love the neat snowman article; unfortunately, here in Houston, we don't get much snow! Cookies. . .oh, I licked my lips over the snowflake wafers, but I've never made them. ... Read more

4-0 out of 5 stars Gingerbread for all seasons
Very nice book complete with patterns and instructions. One of the best available.

5-0 out of 5 stars A Must-Have Gingerbread book
I have both of Teresa Layman's books on gingerbread, and this is my favorite of the two.If you enjoy making gingerbread structures, or just like practicing your decorating skill, this book is one you will turn to time and time again. What I like most about both of her books is how clear and detailed her instructions are on how things are put together, and how she uses items and ingredients that anyone can find anywhere, so that it is IMPOSSIBLE to mess it up.And even though the pictures look a bit intimidating, if you break each structure down into steps as she has laid out, and take it one thing at a time, you soon realize how simple they really are - they just LOOK impressive. The Haunted House is worth the price of the book all by itself! I loved making it - so much fun!

5-0 out of 5 stars Gingerbread for All Seasons
I was very happy with this book.It has lots of patterns and ideas and gives full instructions of how to make gingerbread houses, lanterns and santa with his sleigh.I am sure I can make these houses come to life like in the book. The patterns are very simple, some are a bit harder but they are all there for anyone to look at.Thank you so much for my wonderful book. ... Thank you, excellent new product;fast and efficient service.Very pleased and highly recommend.

1-0 out of 5 stars another one that's a snore, blah, boring.....
I hate to sound negative. And I truly believe in giving credit where credit is do, but it's very hard to give this book any credit for anything. I'm sure Carol Dahlstrom (author) is a lovely woman, but that's 2 for 2 so far (see my other reviews). Maybe I should start paying more attention to the other reviews or checking these books out at the library first. This book has nothing in it that is worth doing and just having to dust it on my bookshelf every week is a waste of my time. Thank you for reading my review. Have a nice day.

2-0 out of 5 stars Basic
Each craft comes with a list of needed materials--very good.I see this as a basic 'how-to' for untrained crafters/high school wedding party on the cheap. If you think of changing some of the ideas for prom night, the real customer for this book is a high school junior

1-0 out of 5 stars Dont wast your money on it
I'm so sorry that i didnt read the costomer review before i buy it, it is so disapointed and all what the costomer says about it is true, blus no any creative idea, this book didnt provide you with any idea that can make your wedding party special, dont waste your money on it and try to find another book.

2-0 out of 5 stars Offers nice suggestions for various wedding crafts.
The book has some neat and wonderful creations but deals primarily with silk flowers for the crafts and it doesn't fully offer explanations or detailed instructions on some of the crafts. 5-0 out of 5 stars Ultimate book on creating beautiful wreaths for your home
This is a wonderful book!It has been in my collection for several years now and I have used it a countless number of times for inspiration and as a valuable reference guide in creating my own floral designs.1-0 out of 5 stars Wreaths pictured are very unattractive.
I was very disappointed in the wreaths that the author was going to help me make, because as many as there were (a lot) I found them overloaded withdecorations, unbalanced and nothing I would make to give or sell. The stepby step "recipes" for each wreath did have some helpful tips forthe novice.

4-0 out of 5 stars This book is creative and colorful.

5-0 out of 5 stars Stocking are wonderful
There are so many stocking patterns and ornament patterns in this book. The directions are clear and easy to follow.

5-0 out of 5 stars Love this book - and the entire Christmas Remembered series!
The designs in this book are simply amazing.I love the way you can see a full color picture of the finished product at the beginning of the book, and the reference to the charts at the back.I would only recommend this book to an advanced stitcher because of the incredibly detailed charts. In addition, the charts are in color and don't copy over very well into a black and white working copy, so if you are used to having working copy that you can put reminder marks on, this may not be the book for you.

4-0 out of 5 stars Christmas stocking cross stitch patterns
There were many patterns to choose from that were varied and very attractive; and therefore somewhat challenging. The hardest part was I needed the stocking I chose to "face" the opposite direction, so I had to mentally reverse the pattern. But even with that, still reasonable to complete.Would not recommend for a beginner. ... 4-0 out of 5 stars DAZZLING AND EYE POPPING
Someone said the author belittled people in the book by calling them obsessive on the way they decorate their homes.I hate to say but the author is right. But not in a bad way.Author David Seldman provides some wonderful instructional tips and the photography is magnificent.I've looked at this book over and over again to get ideas for my own front yard.
3-0 out of 5 stars Author is insulting
I was happy to find a book about my favorite thing- Christmas lights, and ordered it right away. When I settled down to read it, I didn't like the tone the author took in his writing. Most of his verbal descriptions of the people who like to go the extra mile to beautify their homes for the holidays were offensive. He called them kooky or nuts and belittled their efforts by making everyone sound "quirky" or "obsessive".It was obvious that he felt that lighting your house in an original way was stupid. 5-0 out of 5 stars For what it is - a little gem
If you want something that will make you smile and shake your head in amazement and disbelief and you love a sparkly Christmas, this book is for you. Some of the decorations are beautiful, some staggering in scope and some just so much plain fun. From the ridiculous to the sublime, you can hardly get more entertainment value from the mere ten bucks or so you will pay for this book. ... 5-0 out of 5 stars Nice variety of food gift ideas
I prepare homemade Christmas gifts every year for my coworkers.I have used this book on several occasions with very good results.I have a collection of books dedicated to homemade food gifts, and this is one of my favorites.

5-0 out of 5 stars easy recipes with great results
I've made several of the recipes in this book to give as gifts over the holidays & I always got rave reviews. I found the recipes to be very clear, with easily found ingredients. Nothing I made was too complex or confusing. I had never made candy before but got excellent results with these recipes.I would venture to say they seem idiot-proof.I will be using this book again (third year in a row) for my holiday baking/gift-giving.

1-0 out of 5 stars Don't waste your money!
What a disappointment! This book contains a few basic recipes, which are padded with recipes for everything from yeast bread to quick bread (with no explanation of what they're doing in a cookie book) and cookie recipes from various marketing boards. There are awesome cookie books on the market (and available from Amazon); even Betty Crocker's would be better than this -- and, for about the same price, you can get Judy Rosenberg's wonderful, detailed, book of awesome TNT cookies.Don't waste your money on this one!
