5-0 out of 5 stars Cutest Christmas ever!
I can't wait to make this quilt. I saw one made up at a quilt show or something very similar and couldn't wait to find the pattern. It is just so clever and fun.My quilt group is planning on making it as a block of the month.I am so happy I bought this book, it makes me smile every time I look through it.
5-0 out of 5 stars Welcome to the North Pole
This is a beautiful book. The instructions are easy to follow and the patterns are full size.It is nice that you do not have to make a hugh project all at once. The project is laid out in sections to make it easy to do small wall hangings. These ladies are very talented and the pieces of Santa's village are precious.I am so glad I bought this book.

5-0 out of 5 stars so cute!
This is a beautiful book! The applique is so charming.I can't wait to make this quilt for myself! The only downside is that you need so many different fabrics to make this quilt as effective as theirs - oh well, more fabric shopping! This was the first Piece O'Cake book I ever bought, after trying one of their block of the month patterns and I have loved it so much that I've bought all their books since.I highly recommend this book to anyone who loves to hand applique and even to maching appliquers. ... 4-0 out of 5 stars lots of great stocking ideas!
I too checked this book out of my local library and think it's really good! It's from the publishers of Better Homes and Gardens and Cross Stitch & Country Crafts magazine, and there are some really nice stocking patterns. My favorites are Colonial Heritage Sampler stocking and Victorian stocking (by Barbara Baatz) and Songs of Joy stocking (by Nancy Rossi). There are also smaller patterns where you just stitch the stocking cuff -- cute and don't require as much stitching. There are color photos of every finished stocking, and the charts are color and are easy to follow.

5-0 out of 5 stars Great Designs
I agree with the previous reviewer, these designs are incredibly beautiful. My sister-in-law owns this book and I have been borrowing it from her over and over. Until I saw this book, it was kind of hard to find stocking designs for everyone that celebrated Christ's birth rather than the coming of Santa Claus. Not any more! (Just so you know, there are also non-religious and Santa designs, too.)

4-0 out of 5 stars christmas fun
I got this book from the library and I just don't want to return it! It is dissapointing that it is no longer being printed. The designs are beautifulwith a great variety to suit everyone. That's great if you are like me andonly do cross-stitch for other people! ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Got me started, hard to stop.
I've been building a haunted house with a church group for maybe 5 years running. The youth won't let me stop!Every year I get a call asking if I'll help with the haunted house, both from the participants and the patrons.Everybody loves it!
5-0 out of 5 stars Spootacular!!!!!!!
A great book for the motivated home haunter, great ideas and scenes that can be built on a budget.Your not going to put any haunted house out of business, but you will be the hit of the neighborhood. You need to have a creative mind to go along with the concepts presented, this a guide not a by the numbers book.If you are like me and work on Halloween projects all year round, you will enjoy this book.If you want so some cute wood cutouts to put in the yard, this book is not for you.

5-0 out of 5 stars If this book doesn't spark your imagination...
The 'HHHH' was designed for haunted house enthusiasts who are brimming with imagination. It's written like a sugar cookie recipe to be dressed up with any kind of toppings or mix-ins that the reader can concoct. If the book is followed step by step it would produce a simple and effective charity haunt, but mix in a healthy dose of creativity and the sky (or grave yard) is the limit. Anyone who can't pull a beautiful haunt from this book is severely lacking in haunt talent and needs to leave haunting to the professionals. ... Read more

3-0 out of 5 stars Complete Book of Wedding Flowers:Stunning Flower Arranging..
I found that this book was not detailed enough for beginners in terms of creating the arrangements. It focused more on the wedding day rather than the actual flower arrangements.I was looking for more of a step-by-step guide for arranging wedding flowers.

4-0 out of 5 stars Great book with lots of ideas
This is a cute book with lots of ideas.Doesn't have a lot of "how-to's", but does have some. Great pictures.I use this as a book for "brides-to-be".Someone always chooses something from this book.

5-0 out of 5 stars It's the little details
I enjoyed this book because of the ideas it presented for the little details ... suggestions for floral arrangements that were dramatic, beautiful, and unique. It gave examples of floral arrangements for everything from baptismal fonts to tents. I was inspired to think beyond the standard altar pieces and table decorations.Read more

Mary Engelbreit's cheerful designs have become almostubiquitous, appearing on everything from greeting cards to home fabricsto clothing, and the 80-plus seasonal projects in this book are a happyextension of those colorful pick-me-ups. These designs cover the cross-stitch skill range, from 10-count perforated plastic ornaments andbutton covers to an embellished gardener's journal cover worked on 36-count linen. 5-0 out of 5 stars Simple, colorful patterns that capture the charm and magic of Engelbreit at her best!
After longing for "Mary Engelbreit Cross Stitch for All Seasons," but balking at the high price, I eventually picked up a copy for a song in a bargain bin.I am a longtime fan of Mary Engelbreit's whimsical work, and copies of several of her more famous works (Everyone needs their own Spot, It's Good to be Queen) grace my home.

5-0 out of 5 stars My first cross stitch book
This book was WONDERFUL!!She broke it up into various themes and her puppies were the cutest I have ever seen. Also I enjoyed the fact that along with the patterns she gave great ideas for how to turn the patterns into wonderful accessories for your home.I would HIGHLY recommend that this book become part of your cross stitch library. Also, check out her first book about cross stitch. It is a little more involved but still a good part of any collection. ... 5-0 out of 5 stars I love boxwood
Since I love boxwood growing in the yard and using the beautiful greens at Christmas, I found this book to be one of the most informative books I own about Christmas greens. The instructions on how to create many decorations for the inside and outside the home are very clear. The pictures are gorgeous.I have learned to make garlands, wreaths, centerpieces, swags, boxwood trees, and other lovely items. The book features many different types of greens to use for creating holiday decorations. I have taught many others how to make holiday decorations that are featured in this book.

Editorial Review

Martha Stewart's fans look to her to provide a sense of what's possible with unlimited taste and plenty of decorating funds, and certainly no one else does Christmas with such flair.Martha's Christmas feast may seem a bit over the top, with silver-leaved fruit at each place setting, crystal decanters of French dessert wines, and cake stands holding more decorations, but it photographs nicely--and, of course, the food looks great. There's also an easier New Year's Day party suggestion that will appeal to more casual party-givers. Martha's signature is the elegant simplicity of her decorative concepts, and this book's strength is its easy instructions for making wonderful wreaths, tree ornaments, and gift wrappings. The instructions for making aluminum snowflakes may alone be worth the price of the book. ... Read more

2-0 out of 5 stars What's with the pastels?
I am a Martha Stewart fan, but this book disturbed me with its creepy pastels and white motif that pervaded the book. This sucked the Christmas spirit right out of me.I do yearn for the deep rich colors and and oldmoney feel that were the Martha of yore. Now everything is post-divorcebright minimalist.

2-0 out of 5 stars A rehash of past magazines
If you subscribe to the magazine you will be very disappointed. Most ofthe projects are articles directly out of the past couple years' Winterissues. If you don't subscribe, you will enjoy the book. It's a scam fortrue Martha devotees.

1-0 out of 5 stars Why is the cover so ugly?
ALl I have to say about this book is one thing:It's a shame an art-driven publisher like Clarkson Potter would allow an ugly cover like this to bear their logo.Obvious last-minute slap job of magazine scrap pieces. What a waste of money. ... Read more

Editorial Review

Martha Stewart's decorating ideas are deceptively simple. Thematerials are readily available and the instructions are easy, masking the sophistication it takes to realize the simplistic beauty of aplain white plate with a single maple leaf as a place card. "GoodThings" is what Martha Stewart calls the "easy tips"segment of her television show, and, in fact, all of the tips in thisbook are remarkably easy (at least, in comparison to some of her otherprojects). Martha's potato, sweet potato, and onion latkes areremarkably good, and are particularly recommended for those who maystill doubt whether they can match Martha in their own kitchens. ... Read more

I bought this book to get ideas for the large Halloween party we throw every year. This book is strictly sighted at school parties, including classroom crafts and games designed for a school setting. 5-0 out of 5 stars The BEST Halloween Book Out There!
I admit that I am a *freak* when it comes to Halloween...and now that I have kids I plan on getting them involved in my passion as well!I am always the one buying up all the Halloween magazines at the grocery store checkout looking for recipes and crafts...and THIS ONE sums up everything!AAANNNDDDD...It is ALL in color!!!It has awesome crafts, costumes, food, music/movie suggestions...everything...and for ALL age groups (eg, even non-alcoholic drinks to alcoholic drinks). And what I love about the food is there are cute ideas that are "spooky" and cute but not really gross like some Halloween recipes.

When I was a kid...and I'm NOT saying when that was...decorating for Halloween consisted of mainly taping those old cardboard decorations of skeletons, witches, or bats, etc, on your windows, carving a jack-o-lantern, and maybe stuffing a dummy.Today, decorating for Halloween is second only to Christmas and is growing every year.No longer just sprouting up a week before the holiday, today people seem to begin decorating for Halloween as soon as October rolls around. And with the elaborate displays many people now have, it probably takes that long to finish. But as Halloween stores pop up each September selling expensive, Hollywood quality props and decorations, people have lost sight of the fact that you needn't break the bank to have a great Halloween display at your house."Halloween Recipes & Crafts" presents 160 pages of fantastic ideas for decorating both inside and outside, along with great recipes and other tips for a memorable Halloween. The book opens with a short but interesting history of Halloween and then provides tips on party planning and safety. From there we get into the meat of the book and the fabulous projects you can make at home for little cost.
