A New Way of Teaching Origami
This book is excellent to teach middle school students the art of origami. There are many different designs that students will enjoy. Students enjoy origami with complicated folds and this one has several ones.

A great ornament book!
I don't agree with the review saying there were problems.I have made the Lantern and many others without any problems.The instructions are very clear and the results are great looking!I especially like the fact that they are "pure" origami (no glue or cutting required). Very good but with problems
Kusudams without glue: a pleasure! I made the Two-Dimesional icon ,Three-Dimensional icon, Where�s up? (i very love this last) (7 squares for all). The Cube (20 squares) is wonderful because it have something as wings.The Magic cube (14 squares) look good too. The Tristar (6 squares) need a pair of tweezers but his form is very pleasant (triangle). But i had some problems with others. The Lantern and the Lightstar lantern didn�t need squares the same size! MORE WONDERFUL IDEAS FROM C&T
For several years now, my wife has been making holiday crafts to give away to friends and family as little gifts for Christmas and so we're constantly on the lookout for new ideas and books.My part is usually limited to the drudgery of buying (and paying) for the supplies and doing mundane work such as the cutting while my wife gets all the glory!

Really good resource
Pictures are sharp, have good colors.There are 3 (sometimes 4) pages each of pictures for new years, valentines day, St. Patrick's day, easter, 4th of July, Halloween, Thanksgiving, christmas.In some cases, like valentine's day, it's someting to get started with but you need other pictures too.Great pictures though.I've been using my scanner and then printing them on matte brochure paper, the colors are great. ... Excellent Stocking Pattern

Excellent Ornament Making Source!
COtM is a fabulous source of inspiration when it comes to making ornaments.The photos show each project in its final stage, a few have diagrams to show folding technique, and for those projects using a pattern, one is provided (although you'll have to enlarge at times).The projects are great for beginner and intermediate crafters as the directions mostly involve glue, ribbon, beads, glitter and paint.There are a few advanced projects but those mostly deal with oven and/or air dry clay.These are great rainy-day projects the whole family can enjoy because the instructions tell you all the items you will need and most are only 4 step processes.Finally, for those who feel their place is in a hardware store rather than a craft store, there are even projects for you! Easy and Informative
Now, I'm just a dude... metrosexual maybe, but still just a dude. So I don't know my @$$ from my elbow when it comes to making invitations. But this book made everything very accessible. I see some complaints about the need for additional software, but I found I could implement a lot of the suggestions using apps that I already had on my computer.
Love it!
I designed my wedding invitations using this book. I have almost no artistic talent, so I had my doubts. But this book is filled with so many great ideas and simple instructions that I was able to put together a beautiful design in an afternoon.
Don't buy this unless you want to buy their software!
They should have added to the title, "With our software that you can purchase seperately." There's a cd included, big deal, just gives you a taste of what you can buy. I ended up downloading a program for free to make my invitations. There is some info on paper, styles, etc. that may be helpful, but oh, why am I trying to be nice? Great Book!
Some of my fondest memories are of driving around with my parents, and later with my children, to wonder at the displays of those few festive folks that help make Christmas more joyous for us all.My mother and father drove us to the two streets in our small town where people bothered to sparkle as a community in tribute to the birth of love. In Chicago, those communities are in abundance....but who would ever know...unless somebody told them. In her book Mary Edsey tells everybody .She shows them, too. She seems to know everything about Christmas lights in Chicago...the history, the story behind the families that make the displays, the whereabouts, the types ofbulbs and figurines used. And she shows us everything in detailed photos. It's like looking at a family album. Plus...She has maps to every display! It's great table entertainment as well as a wonderful guide. I highly recommend this book to any lover of Christmas and the lights that come with it!

Makes points just for existing
Perhaps one of the fondest memories of any Chicago childhood is the Christmas lights.We love our decorations, and in some parts of the city, we go all out, turning our homes into little "winter wonderlands" for our own pleasure and that of our friends, neighbors, and often carloads of strangers who cruise the more decorated neighborhoods.That's why I snarfed up this book as soon as I knew it existed, and for the most part, I wasn't disappointed.Edsey covers a lot of the best areas for decorations, gives some historical background, and displays a real love for her subject, which strikes a responsive chord in me.However, I was disappointed in the photography which was a bit fuzzy and rather darker than I would have liked.Now, granted, all this has to be shot in the dark for maximum effect, but holiday magazines manage to make their photographs crisp and clear, with little loss of architectural detail.And I know it's not about the architecture, but that always will inform the way the decorations appear to onlookers.To lose those details is to lose some of what makes the lights and decorations so appealing. One of the best halloween craft books
I have a few other halloween craft books but this is one of the best.Most of the crafts were easy enough for my children to do and great for school parties.

Not that impressive.
This book has ideas for crafters of all tastes.The projects in this book range anywhere from victorian to country.Although this book doesn't stand-out as a favorite among my collection of craft books, it is wellorganized with nice pictures of all the completed projects. If it wasn'tfor all the clever ideas in the children's chapter (and a few good dessertrecipes too), I probably would not keep this book.

The most excellent pumpkin painting book
We use this book every year to paint about 30-40 pumpkins for table center pieces where I work.We have found, after searching for books on pumpkin painting, that this is our favorite one and we call it "our pumpkin bible".Then, the night of the children's halloween party, we let the kids take them home.All the patterns are easy (even for those who are not artistically talented).We highly recommend it!

Will cure all boredom while stranded on that desert isle!
This would be the book to take along before boarding the S.S. Minnow.You might also want to take along some acrylic paints, brushes, and a few other items which are clearly listed beside each project.This book would cure boredom over and over again as it contains many different easy-to-duplicate designs for not only pumpkins, but gourds, melons (and possibly coconuts).This book can be helpful for adults as well as children (and even possibly the natives).After all what else would there be to do on that desert isle after the sun goes down?! ...
