Wonderful!
A wonderful resource for beginners and experienced spinners alike.
Great for a beginner (like me)
Although my mother has been spinning since I was a little kid, I had never really had the urge to try it until recently.I purchased a spindle and some fibre, but have not yet worked up the courage to try it.The instructions in Spin to Knit are very clearly written and accompanied by step-by-step photos--just what I needed to help me really visualize the process!I am already looking forward to learning to use a wheel as well!

Learning to Spin
Excellent instructions for preparing the roving for spinning. Up until reading this book I was unable to get the roving to separate and allow the fibers to slip past each other. Great job.

Wonderfull!
As I ventured into the world of spinning there were a many books but none interested me as much as this one. The beautifull color pictures and easy to fallow instructions are the best. even the projects in the back have meaning to the beginner spinner. The best part is that there is instructions on how to make your own spindle!

The Whole Craft of Spinning: From the Raw Material to the Finished Yarn
The book was very basic and an excellent resource for the novice spinner. I was able to teach myself how to use my spinning wheel and how to spin my own wool. Highly recommend this reference.

Fabulous and Funky!
What an incredible book!Inspirational, lovely, fun, and energetic!!!This is a great book for those who know how to spin and who are ready to challenge themselves to think "outside the box".Lexi Boeger features not only interesting techniques, but gorgeous pictures that you will want to look at again and again.She self-publishes this book, therefore, the cost is higher, but worth every penny!This is by far my favorite fiber-related book in my collection!!!

Book is not as big as it appears
Okay, the content of the book is great, but I'm not sure it is worth the $40 retail price tag.I'm very glad it is discounted here on Amazon, or I might feel rather upset about the book.

Wonderful!
I bought this for the purpose of learning some new dye techniques and fell in love with the sock patterns at the same time! This book is fantastic and really well organized.

Inspirational for the spinner and/or knitter!
I am an avid spinner and knitter, and this book just gets my creative juices flowing! Even just to sit down and browse, you'll want to own a copy. And even if you only knit, you'll love this creative book of how these ladies use color, and their explanation of the process of dying wool to spin into yarn. Fun book!

Wonderful, a delight to read!
I completely disagree with 'belacane "the cashmere cat"'. This book is just unbelievable detailed with all kinds of interesting info. He even tells you how to make the soap that you wash your wool with (if you are so inclined). After having read so many reviews that said he was opinionated, well the cover of the book has the word OPINION on it, and the introduction he admits he can at times be hard headed after years and years of his way working. However the how-to's are wonderful!
Informative and Interesting
I am a beginning spinner, trying to learn how to work the wheel to get the different kinds of yarn I want.Admittedly, much of Amos's book is technical, with mathematical equations that are more daunting than anything else, but there is an astounding array of knowledge, that, while not directly helpful to my goals is fascinating, nonetheless.So far (I'm up to chapter 5) I've learned a few techniques that have helped to craft my spinning into something more advanced than bumbling, but more than that, the book has sparked my further interest into the world of spinning.For example, I don't plan on growing, harvesting and preparing flax for spinnng, but I was fascinated with learning about the process.

As a beginning spinner, who is also working to become a Master Spinner, I find this book can answer all my questions about any facet of spinning. Beautiful and Inspiring
The Art of the Loom is really inspirational for a beginning weaver like myself. There are beautiful color and black and white photographs of stunning pieces from around the world and throughout time, and people weaving on many different types of traditional looms. There are also illustrations explaining how much of the weaving is done, although many of them were difficult for me to digest as I am brand new at weaving. Hands on Spinning
The book is very educational. I learned alot about different methods of spinning. I also learned how to process yarn and storing it. The book also has many different projects you can do after you are done spinning the yarn. It is a good book to have around the house. Glad I purchased it.

Great for beginner's
I should've bought this book about a year ago or so when I first became interested in spinning. Don't know why I didn't but it really is a good starter book. It touches on a good variety of subjects and had I bought it previously, might not've made some of the choices I did.

A Fantastic Beginner's Book
This book is great for the person who either wants to learn to spin with a drop spindle or who has just learned.There are several articles that give clear descriptions of how to use high and low whorl spindles, supported spindles and how to make your own.There are even drawings showing the spinner how to hold her/his hands to cut down on discomfort.The articles are written in a very conversational tone so that you feel like one of your friends is telling you about the craft.There are also stories by people who have used wheels for years and have recently decided to pick up a spindle.This is a great collection. ... The Best Weaving Book
This is one of the best books you can get for weaving. It is very informative with many clear and detailed pictures. There are many projects for each type of loom persented, ranging from beginner to expert. Traditional primitive looms are talked about, as well as instructions for a treadle loom. The instructions are are very helpful and informative, and yet flexible to adjust to any variations the weaver might need. Of all the weaving books I have seen, this is the one I have seen the most that covers the widest range of material. A great book!

A great present
I was given this as a birthday present.It contains a fascinating array of material - from Leonardo Da Vinci's design for a spinning wheel onwards.It gives projects for 5 (I think) different kinds of loom - but not the type I own (a rigid heddle) but they're adaptable.It contains a lot of material really only relevant to US readers (for instance a HUGE list of suppliers, discussion of US plants to dye wool with, typical US laws if you're thinking of setting up your own business.)Not something I'd have bought for myself - it's encyclopaedic and immensely interesting rather than immediately useful (but, in my opinion, that's one of the things that makes it a good present).

Do you know the difference between Woolen and Worsted?
This is a very detailed and all comprehensive book on "Weaving, Spinning, and Dyeing."It is packed with technical drawings that are mostly geared toward Native American craft; yet it also shows other traditional methods and equipment.There are several detailed pages on how to set up spinning wheels of different types.The book alone is worth knowing descriptions, such as Woolen vs. Worsted. ... A great source for the one (or two) bunny family!
This is a book for those that don't want to have a rabbitry.It is designed for the person who wishes to raise just one rabbit as a pet and as a wool source.Comprehesive and well written, it includes sections on howto grade, harvest and use your fiber.

great knitting book for pet lovers

Kudos for a resourceful book
in this day and age, living in the states, we can be so wasteful. It was refreshing to find a book about recycling, that has nothing to do with paper and plastic. Why didn't anyone think of this before? I'm just really impressed and happy that these books are actually out there. It is important for use to save our resources, before it's too late!

Good Reading

Best Spinning book going
This has to be the most informative spinning book I've come across.For me it has been most helpful in detailing carding & spinning tips & tricks. Several 'ah-ha' moments while reading then spinning.I highly recommend this book for any beginner spinner.Totally inspiring to do more & push the limits!!

Indespensable, with great examples and exercises
Deb Menz's approach to using color in handspinning is firmly based on color theory yet fairly easy to understand and execute, with the help of photographed examples and formulas, exercises, etc.I own the Twisted Sister's book, which is good for inspiration but rather vague in terms of instruction and creating repeatable results.Menz covers handpainting, carding, combing and plying, and shows you how to use colors to achieve different results in each method.I feel that it's probably the only book I need on this subject, I love it!

Full of information, but why?
Debbie Menz is a fiber artist, and knows color like no one else.Yet I wonder why the processes have to be so lengthy and difficult?I let my grandsons--6 and 8 years old--dye some fiber this summer and spun it up randomly and ended up with wool looking similar to hers with minimal effort.The book is worth buying for the color theory, but I think there are less time consuming ways to produce the same spectacular yarns. ...
