Miniature Teddy Bears
This is wonderful book.Not for a beginner, the skill level is for advance bear makers.I had a wonderful time makes these little guys.

A Gem of a Book!!
This is a delightfully, wonderful book on how to make various sizes of miniature bears, from 1 3/4 " to 5" bears!The author, Julie Owen, does an outstanding job in instructing the reader in the creation of these precious bears.One can't but help to fall in love and want to create each and every one!Ms. Owen presents a bear to create for each month of the year, in addition to a Sailor Bear, a Polar Bear, and a Baby Bear!Included also are the instructions for the basic 10 bears, on which all of the monthly bears are based on. Bean Bag Fun!
This is a very fun book and these animals are very easy to make!Anyone who likes to sew or enjoys stuffed animals will have a great time with this book.There is a fair amount of variety in types and styles of animals, plus it's very convenient that groups of animals share the same basic pattern (less cutting=good).This is one of the best stuffed animal pattern books I have used and would highly recommend it.
Good book for beginners
Easy to follow instructions. My 9-year-old daughter and I finished the duck project in 2 hours and it wasn't one suggested for beginners. Overall, it was a fun project to work together. We can't wait to start on our next one, the polar bear. My suggestion is when tracing the patterns, use white gift wrapping tissue paper. ... Read more

Sock Monkeys Explore The Human Condition
This is a wonderful little book and is suitable for all ages. It makes an excellent gift, and is great for brightening anyone's day. The sock monkeys in Dee Lindner's work are all unique and expressive, which is probably why people identify with them so much. For anthropomorphizing human emotions onto other things, Lindner is second only to William Wegman's brilliant works with dogs.
Monkey Love .... Makes a Wonderful Statement!
Monkey Love is a delightful and inspirational book which displays caring and love not only in the colorful monkey photographs, but also in the heart-felt sayings which accompany those photographs.The 'situations' in which the monkeys find themselves are FUN to look at.... the sand angel, the tongue stuck on the flagpole, the 'unique' monkeys, etc..... all relate to events and situations in real life. It is difficult to come away with just one favorite.This little book not only makes a nice treasure for my own bookshelf, it also makes a cherished gift - one that comes with lot's of love within.I've already given one as a gift (to my mother-in-law) and it was passed around the room with lots of smiles, laughter, and discussion! This would make a nice item for anyone for anytime - all ages - everyone will enjoy it.

Monkey Love/ Love those Monkeys!
This is a wonderful little hard-backed book and just the right size for little hands. The pictures are so endearing and will enchant little ones as they ooh and ahhh over those little monkeys in their charming outfits and their demonstrations of affection in oh so many ways!

This is a fantastic book for making teddy bears that will probably bring back memories of the teddies you grew up with!
Kind of Disappointing
I bought this book because I have another by the same authors that is excellent.However, this one is not nearly as good.Nine of the patterns are for very basic, non-jointed bears, with only two patterns for jointed bears.

VALUE FOR MONEY, BEGINNERS BOOK ON BEAR MAKING
This would have to be the best value for money, beginners book on bear making that has been published in the last 10 or more years.The author has written this for the home sewer and doesn't assume that there is a teddy bear supplies shop just up the road where you can buy those expensive specialty items like joint sets, mohair fur, etc.Everything you need can be found at home in the sewing cupboard, at the local sewing shop or general store; eg: like buttons for joints, teddy jumpers/sweaters out of socks.Read more

So Adorable
I asked for this book to make things for my Waldorf schooled child or with my Waldorf grade school students if it was simple enough.I think the children over 3rd grade could handle most of the things with help.It is more complicated than I imagined (HAPPILY).I am really tired of making nuthats and the KLUTZ type faries, they are wonderful, but we needed something new!These are not necessarily Waldorf friendly for the purists, but they could certainly be easily adapted to be so!The fairies are terribly adorable.We cannot wait to get started on dragonfly!

patterns call for obsolete material!
i really wanted to make the cute shaggy bear pictured on the front cover.when i got the pattern book, i found that i needed Unger's Gespa (fringe-like bulky yarn), two 3.5 ounce skeins. gauge 1 st = 1".Guess what?after searching the web for over two hours, i have decided that this type of yarn is no longer manufactured (this book was copyrighted 1984) and i can not find a substitute that will satisfy the gauge.The other bears just look like cheap crocheted toys.Nothing to write home about. Only one star because i can't give it zero stars, even though I can't even begin to make what i wanted to.

One bear makes this a great book!
I like several of the bears in this book but one really stands out.The design for the Shaggy Bear is fantastic.He is a 14 inch bear done in a loop stitch.In addition to looking great he is stitched using a size"P" crochet hook!Quick to make for a last minute Christmas giftor to make in bunches for your favorite charity.I also liked the PandaBear. Very nice.
This book is very nice, with some very good patterns.The only thing I don't like about the book is that it uses real feathers for the birds.For a book that's ecologicaly minded, that seems a bit ironic.For my projects I used feathers I made from a fringed 'tube' of matching fabric with pipe cleaners for the core.

Adorable Indeed!
I checked this book out from the library and within 2 days have decided to purchase it. This book is beautifully illustrated with color photos and has large print, easy to read instructions. (I do agree that the projects seem to run together.) The term "dolls" is misleading, as they include everything from zoo/farm animals to clowns and snowmen. The book offers baby-friendly instructions, but I am disappointed that most of the photos only show the dolls with "over 3 years" eyes and noses. I do appreciate the tips, stitching illustrations (although some of these are confusing for a true beginner), and the essential/important information underlined for clarity.Read more

Must Have Book for Anyone Serious about Selling!
This is a fantastic book.I have recommended it to many people and they have all found it very helpful.Tells you everything you need to know if you are serious about selling your Artist Bears or Dolls.Gives details on writing press releases, how to submit articles/photos to magazines etc.Much more. I still refer to it regularily.Worth every penny.
