Really Ugly Dolls

Cyclops Bear
After spending time making the patterns, cutting fur and sewing the pieces together, one of the bear's eyes broke while being hammered to the fastener.Now I have only one eye left!!If the pieces were better made or instructions were better, maybe this wouldn't have happened.

The teddy bear kit
This is a really great kit for a beginner to teddy bear making. With very easy to use instructions you will be able to make your finished bear in about 4-5 hours. The only reason it didn't get 5 stars is because it couldhave come with a little more material, I had problems fitting the paw andfoot pads on to the suede and in the end had to cut in to the seamallowance. Horrible instructions!
I consider myself to be a pretty experienced sewer.I have made everything from teddy bears to prom dresses and I found the instructions in this book to be horrible.The pattern pieces do not go together like theyshould and the instructions and diagrams are very confusing.I made theGentlemen's jacket, waistcoat and bow tie.I had to start the jacket overbecause of misunderstanding the instructions and then had to accomodate formistakes I made after that. This book is definitely not for theinexperienced sewer.The end result is nice, but getting there is rough!!

Use this book for inspiration, not execution! After locating a bear of the size specified in the book, I chose one of the simplest garments to try and still have not been able to complete it. Construction diagrams contradictphotographs; buttonholes marked on the pattern pieces come out in the wrongplaces on the garments; nothing goes together as the instructions describe.You will spend most of your time ripping what you have done according tothe instructions and figuring out how to make the pieces actually gotogether. In addition, the clothes are so fitted--no elastic waistbandshere--that either your bear must have the *exact* dimensions of the book'smodels, up, down, and sideways, or you must be highly skilled in adjustingpatterns. ... A must for Teddy Bear lovers !!!
This is a beautiful book with pages of photographs of teddy bears in wonderfully posed scenes. It is also very informative with lots of tips and tricks for making and displaying your bears. Plus, there are lots of fullsize patterns inside, to make a variety of heartwarming bears. It's just awonderful book.

This book is well written.Instructions are very clear and easy tounderstand.The pictures are beautiful.Patterns are extremely well done. The bears I have created from this book were fantastic and truly adorable!

A must-have book for bear makers and bear lovers alike!
This isn't just a book about making bears.Of course, it IS a book about making bears, with wonderful illustrations, full-size patterns and easy-to-understand directions, but it is also so much more.Each "antique" bear (and rabbit) has his or her own charming character, complete with hobbies and favorite attire.Along with the descriptions of each bear are beautiful photographs of the bears in their "natural" settings and at their favorite pasttimes.I think I like Webster the best, with his high-top boots and his "just in case" skeleton key hanging about his neck.Even if you never make a bear, you still need this book for its quaint English garden and old-fashioned cottage style photographs. ...
