Taking the stress out of machine quilting
This book has some excellent patterns.Patterns that are a little different, but still viable for a quilter of moderate ability.What I like best about the book is the section on lap quilting.Ms Bonesteel's methodof putting the quilt together in strips and then quilting it section bysection works out very well for machine quilting, because you are dealingwith manageable segments, rather than trying to wrestle with a large quiltat the machine.They can be very unwieldy.While you have more hand work,the results are very neat and professional looking.

Inspiring and Thought-provoking
Georgia Bonesteel's book, Lap Quilting Lives!, has several innovative ideas for lap quilted designs. Her instructions are clear and well-written.(While I have chosen a quilt from this book to make, I haven't started theproject yet.) Read more

Great helps for a beginner
I am just starting to quilt and this book has lots of information besides lap quilting.In addition to the templates, there is valuable information about yardage and how to bind quilts. It shows how to add ruffles and howto do saw-toothed and scalloped edges.I especially liked theinformation on how to make continuous binding rather than buying readymade.

Lots of potential here for motivation!

lap quilting
This is a book that can be saved and enjoyed over and over.

Georgia Bonsteel makes it easy.
I found this book to be well written and informative.The quilt patterns range from simple to complex for beginners and the more experienced quilter.For those of you who are beginners, invest in a rotary cutter system for this will make redundant cutting of pieces much faster andeasier.I did find that I needed to purchase some extra yardage of fabricsdue to my choice in color and arrangements, keep this in mind if you shouldchose to vary from the colors used in the book.I would have liked to seepointers on how to handle complex intersections in some of the starpatterns that would have made them lay nicer.I had to learn by trial anderror.(Practice with scraps on these until you feel you have it down.) All in all I found this volume to be well laid out with beautifulphotography and helpful. The abundance of available pattern pieces wasgenerous and should keep the reader busy attempting to recreate thewonderful quilts depicted in the book. ... Read more
