5-0 out of 5 stars Great Book. Quick Shipment. Greaat seller.
The book was delivered in a timely manner, well packaged. Would buy from this seller again.

5-0 out of 5 stars The author enthusiastically shares his passion and experience with grape growing and winemaking
This book is clearly written and easy to read. In addition to the educational aspects, the author effortlessly recounts his own home winemaking experience and shares his passion for it. I found the tables and calculations extremely helpful. A lot of attention is paid to describing the technology and chemistry of the homemade wine. However, the author puts even more emphasis on choosing and correctly growing the right grape at the right place and calls it "your single most important decision". That's why the first chapters on the grape varieties and basic viticulture techniques are especially helpful for beginning grape growers. I truly enjoyed reading this book and highly recommend it!
5-0 out of 5 stars WoW what a book !!!!
I have read a lot about this book so I had to have it. I recently bought a small vineyard in Slovakia and I have tons of local books about winemaking. I am a real newbie and after I read these books I had an idea how to make wine, but that was not enough. I always had tons of questions, which I did not know who to ask. Well Jeff Cox answers them. When he describes the wine making process he does that very precisselly that a newbie like me would underestand it. I am looking forward to use his tips this autumn. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars A 'must' for any serious culinary or home organic cook's collection.
Plenty of books on the market cover organic foods and health, but THE ORGANIC COOK'S BIBLE is a resource which goes beyond recipes to offer a survey of organic ingredients and how to choose, store and prepare them. Home cooks and chefs receive a guide which covers meats, dairy, herbs, spices and more, with an A-Z arrangement for quick and easy reference, and a survey of over a hundred organic foods, from flavor and nutrition benefits to storage, what to look for, and top varieties. A 'must' for any serious culinary or home organic cook's collection.
5-0 out of 5 stars Amazing!!An absolute must have reference book
I borrowed this book on an impulse from our local library.I was pleasantly surprised at how thorough and easy to use this book is.It is an absolute must, whether you are into organic foods or not.It covers everything from fruits & vegetables, meats, dairy, grains, pasta and nuts.
5-0 out of 5 stars You need this book.
This book answers all of my questions about produce: the organic factor, (which tells you whether a certain product is sprayed heavily with toxins when you cannot purchase organic), nutrition details, seasonality, what to look for when buying, preparation, and uses.

5-0 out of 5 stars Inspiring and informative
Many of my gardening books are useful for referencing the occasional problem or plant profile, but "Perennial All-Stars" was an engrossing read from cover-to-cover.The author has a great deal of enthusiasm for his subject--so much so that I think he picked more than 10 'Top 10' perennials out of his favorite 150.
5-0 out of 5 stars My favorite guide to perenials
Great book.Very easy read.Best tables I've ever seen-flowers arranged by color, time of bloom, height, etc.

5-0 out of 5 stars Best gardening book on my shelf
Over the years I've become a quite seasoned gardener, this book is still one of my favorites. As recently as today I took my torn and tattered copy to the nurseries shopping.Excellent information about each plant and the pictures are some of the best around. And, yes, I've been able to grow them so that my plants look as healthy as the pictures in the book.It is the book all my friends ask to borrow, but I just can't bear to part with it, so I'm buying each of them one for their birthdays. ... Jeff Cox does what so few writers can do;he makes viticulture sointeresting that you won't want to put this book down. That's saying alot!5-0 out of 5 stars The complete guide to growing grapes & making your own wine.
With enthusiasm and clarity, the author leads his readers, from the amateur to the accomplished winemaker, in his or her quest for flawless grapes and extraordinary wine. The process is not as daunting as it may seem. What matters most is finding the grape that gives wine you like and which thrives and ripens (consistently) in your climate. The author goes on to describe vineyard siting, soil preparation, culture, pruning, trellising, and pest control.Read more

1-0 out of 5 stars Jeff Cox's 100 Greatest Garden Ideas
This is the worst book I've ever waisted money on. I'll be sure to go to the library or local bookstore from now on to check out, anything that he writes, for myself. After reading his book about the best 150 perrenials, I thought this might be a winner. Then someone rated this book with 5 stars. No Way! Talk about Rube Goldberg. The first item he mentions is an INDOOR composter. Even the new Organic Gardening magazine is in the 21st century. If I didn't have to pay for postage I'd send this book back. I'll donate it to the library for the next book sale.

5-0 out of 5 stars Thiswas a incredibly innovative, timesaving read for gardener
I read this book last fall when I first started doing the research for my garden. It has some fabulous ideas for doubling your vegetables, recipes for organic insecicides, improving your current soils, etc. I could'nt waitto own my own copy to reference when it came time to "dig" inthis spring!! ... 5-0 out of 5 stars Great book for rose information you can't find in other places
I love this book, and have found tons of inspiration in it.It's filled with ideas, technical answers, and beautiful photos. The book has tons information and is not just a glossary of popular roses.
4-0 out of 5 stars Practical and Useful
There are many books about roses but this is one of the better ones. Written by well-known garden host (HGTV and PBS) Jeff Cox, it is a beautiful yet practical book that delivers exactly what the title promises.5-0 out of 5 stars Incorporate the rose bush into a variety of landscaping goal
This isn't your usual all-encompassing guide to rose varieties: instead it tells how to incorporate the rose bush into a variety of landscaping goals; from walkways and arbors to container gardening. Tips on choosing and growing the newer, hardier, low-maintenance breeds blend with those on how to arrange roses in conjunction with shrubs and other perennials for maximum effect. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Every gardener should study these color and design theories
This book has a lot of useful things to say about color and garden design. Some of the color theories presented are flaky and esoteric (such as detailed color-emotion link tables, and matching hues to musical notes and making a literal "color harmony"), but the reader is free to learn and choose from many color and design theories. Since garden design is a subjective art, I can reject the need to use, say, the "golden section" in a given design, yet believe that it's a good idea to consciously consider it.

Editorial Review

"Personal and human expression determines how we decorate our gardens," declares noted gardener and eloquent garden writer Jeff Cox. The garden, he says, begins in a daydream, either one that summons pleasant memories (such as beloved plantings recalled from childhood) or one that superimposes dreams on existing property. One begins simply by sitting at the site and imagining what might be done with it, preferably from an upstairs window to get a good overview. But his text is not all airiness and fantasy--it's filled with specific, practical information on many aspects of garden design: incorporating stonework, fountains, paths, gazebos, trellises, statuary, hideaways, enticements for birds and butterflies, kid-friendly spaces, and garden furniture, plus a good source list for these items. And the beautiful photos are themselves an enticement to begin following his advice: grab a glass of lemonade, find a comfortable perch with a view of the property, and leaf through these pages as you dream of ways to transport these lovely scenes into your own yard. Then, with the book's expert help, start putting it into practice to realize the dream. Read more
