love this book
I absolutely love this book. The photos are beautiful! I look at this book so much I guess it is my decorating bible right now haha. If you like Designers Guild fabrics you need to get this book.

Colorful Accessories
Like other reviewers, I wondered, where are the "Rooms to Live In" mentioned in the book title.
Finally!! A book for us "outside the box" decorators
I will preface this review by saying: If you want a "how to" decorating book, with step by step instructions and perfectly laid out rooms that you can easily duplicate by buying each piece in the book, this book is not for you. If you, like me, are looking for decorating books that are a little outside the box... a book that gives you new, fresh ideas with inspirations stemming from items you aesthetically love (the pearly pink of the inside of a conch shell found on vacation, the smooth sophisticated grey from a river stone) and build a room around it... you have found the book you have been searching for! On the fence.....
This is a great coffee table book .... the photographs are beautiful, the quotes fitting and Ill probably get many years of enjoyment out of looking at it from time to time. However, I thought this book (through its photos) was going to give me some ideas on simple flower arranging and container choices. Instead, the photos are of macro shots of flowers, so close up that you really cant see the detail of the containers at all. What this book has done is given me some insight on some different flowers to ask for when I go to the market to pick them up, or plants to ask the nursery about when I pick out flowers for my garden next spring. Anyone who enjoys flowers will love this book, just don't get it with the hopes that you will get any arranging ideas from it. All in all, a gorgeous book that puts me in a cheery mood just by looking at it :)

I wish Tricia Guild would get out of town!
I was not impressed with this book, and I like color. The text was not useful. If there are no tips or they are not informative, I will still buy a book if it has beautiful pictures. However, I was not creatively inspired by this book. I think the design choices are boring. I'm glad I did not buy this book. a challenge
BEAUTIFUL! , this book encouraged me to transform my old house without necessarily changing the beauty of it. Tricia Guild made me dare to bring new colors to my house and giving my family a bright place to live.THEYLOVED IT! .

Your Arctic Sanctuary
The author states her favorite colors of the moment are "slate-gray, purply-grape, lavender, chartreuse, and aqua". You will see quite a lot of these colors when looking through her book "White Hot". The Power of Color to Inspire
I bought "White Hot" almost the minute it came out, after seeing it on display at the Pottery Barn. I should say at the outset that my taste in color and decor coincides with that of the author, so I was thrilled to finally find a decorator who spoke to my aesthetic sensibility. Brainstorming high quality art book!
From the moment I received this book I have loved it, as it is. For me it is a beautiful artwork about how your home can look and be, it is very inspiring and shows a lot of what you can do with light and nuances in your home. I think it is a bit unfare to say it doesn't tell you 'how to' - it is not a how to book, it is intended as inspiration, not that I know Tricia Guild but it is usually the purpose of books of this kind. It does tell you, however that color works different ways in different light and that I see as a definite 'how to' hint..Read more

Simple, Rustic, Plain with Some Paint & Prints
After reading the great reviews, it was shocking to see all the photos and ideas are actually very ordinary, simple and rustic, with a bit of bold paint here, a bit of fabric with prints there, nothing new or interesting. There's 57 pages of recipes that didn't look too original either.Why are so many books filled with mostly ordinary, simple ideas? They deem us to not already know them ourselves??

"Painted Country" caught my eye at a time when COLOR had made a rather large splash in our community, a splash of blue - almost pastel,but unwelcome to some who dictate the 'fashion' of storefronts in this small tourist town. What a furor can rise if circumstances & the gods intersect!"Painted Country" is the answer to such bonfires in winter, and to give a lift to February, when dullish moments need bold colors, verve, exclamation points!
