Has good ideas for container designs.
This book has lots of ideas for containers, both for sunny and shady areas. Lots of pictures, lots of info on plants with color picture. I had picked up a unusual plant at alocal nursey but did not really know anything about the plant and this book had a picture of the plant and care instructions for it.Has info on potting mix for window boxes, hanging planters,and containers,examples of window box designs and instructions, also examples of planted hanging baskets and window boxes, and containers. ... So fun and easy!
Katherine Whiteside makes forcing look really fun and easy, and it turns out it is! This book inspired me to try all sorts of things I've only seen in pictures. Her ideas are simple and wonderful and the way she writes is so down to earth that you feel confident that you can do it!

Pretty to look at, but not alot of substance
I absolutely agree with the review given by Tom Krischan on 1/28/2000.This book is beautiful to look at, with lots of photographs that arewell-taken and gorgeously displayed. That's the good part.... Unfortunatelythere isn't a lot of information in here that even the most basic gardenerwouldn't already know from other sources. Bulbs are the primary area ofdiscussion, with houseplants and cuttings from trees and shrubs also beingdiscussed sparingly. It's not the best book for in-depth answers to yourother forcing needs. useful book for interior plantscapes
this book has everything you need to know about installing and maintaing interior plantscapes and if you are interested in such things i reccomend this book.

good book for begginner or above
I got this book to learn about caring for indoor plants for a new business it is very insightful and helpful. I do mostly pest control in buildings and often am asked about the plants and problems they may have this book is a good help in answering questions and learning about the different plants and how to manage them. Maybe for experinced people this maybe basic info but is helpful. My wife really liked it with help for plants in the house.

When I recieved this book I was so disappointed I returned it within 2days.As a horticulturist, I am constantly seeking out new referencebooks.I had hoped for more information on indoor plantings, the focus wason potted plants rather than installation of indoor planters and gardens.This was a skinny little overpriced houseplant book. The author did discusssoils and lighting, however most basic horticulture text books with a muchlower price tag can offer far more information. Best book for any gardener's library
This is one of those great books that helps beginners feel as though this gardening thing isn't so difficult after all. Plenty of photos and easy-to-follow instructions for plant care make Ortho's All About Houseplants an essiential for anyone who Must-have book for beginner indoor gardeners.

Maybe the most accurate portrayal of the grizzly that has ever been written

Not the definative houseplant book - but still good.
The Miracle Gro guide to houseplants is much better than many other houseplant books in one respect: there are so many detailed photographs on the actual care and maintanence of houseplants. Many other houseplant books I've read have drawings or just explanations of how to repot plants and other similar tasks. There are some great step-by-step instructions in this book.
Guide to Growing Healthy Houseplants
Overall very concise and informative on each specific house plant.My only peeve is that the pictures of each species be larger.Small pictures makes it hard to identify the right species of unknown plants.

More Entertaining Than Actually Useful
There is a lot to like about this book, which offers a listing of 240 plants along with photographs, descriptions, and needs of each--all in a compact size.Even so, I would warn users not to think of it as a houseplant Bible: its descriptions can be misleading and it includes a host plants unsuitable for use as houseplants. Small can be handy, but more difficult to read.
This book is designed to be small and handy to use.It would be especially good if you want to take it with you when houseplant shopping.The book does give you a moderate amount of information on each plant.I didn't really care for the little symbols on the side.I prefered reading the description.I found because of the small size the print is also small and the information is run together which makes it more difficult to read.Read more
