Excellent book well worth the money....
Book is well worth the money.Has a good mix of cabin plans actual floor plans cost extra but it gives you a good idea as to whats out there....

professional quality for the do it your selfer
this book was very informative, and had mulitple plans with all kinds of potential additions.great book for someone looking for a book that can give them concrete ideas for building an adobe house.

Start Basic and Expand as Needed!
I agree with other reviewers that one of the most important features of this book is that in the 12 example plans presented, you can economically plan and build the Basic smaller version of 850 to 1000 sq. ft. and when the need arises, add on to the design. If any design meets your needs, you can purchase a working blueprint for $25 including postage and also included at no extra cost for the more technically minded, are a CD-ROM of a CAD version of the chosen working drawing that you can altermaking this one of the most complete and convenient packages I have had the pleasure to use.

One Story Designs Book
This is an excellent book for getting a variety of styles (i.e. southern,floridian, ranch, etc.).It lists the plans by size for the 1st 3 chaptersand then by style (i.e. European, Traditional, Contemporary).The onlyproblem with that is not all the 800 - 1500 sq feet are together which iswhat I expected when buying the book.It also will sometimes show the samefloor plan with different sq footage.That way if you like a particularhouse but need it a little bigger or smaller, it shows you a plan with aminor change.Overall, excellent buy! ... Southwest Home Plans - There must be something better
It's the best I've found for true SW style homeplans, but many of the plans are not SW -- just houses with tile roofs.They're all 2,000 sq. ft & up, many twice that size, which puts them out of reach for me (too expensive to build)

Great Floor Plans..
However I just wished there had been more real life photos instead of the monochrome sketches to help actually visualize what the house would look like after construction. Definitely useful for someone planning to build adobe style.

Still searching for good Southwestern House Plans
Although the book does have a few Pueblo-style plans like those featured on the front and back cover, very little of the book is devoted to them.Most of the houses it contains are what I would term as fairly traditional,nonsouthwestern houses; their tile roofs seem to be the basis for theirinclusion.I have yet to find a good collection or two of southwesternplans.Most of the floor plans were unappealing to me as well. ... Great pictures and history
I have been to Key West several times and love it.This book brings back memories of my trips.The pictures are gorgeous and the reading includes historical information - very enjoyable to read.The back section includes home plans of various styles of Key West homes.My only complaint is I wish the pictures that correspond with the home plans were actually pictures like the rest of the book (they are renderings).

Unique Book
This is a very unique look at Key West's house's and neighborhoods.Key West Style really educated me on the the interior archicture, floor plans and history. the book will be useful for anyone want information about Key West or considering remodeling a home to incorporat some of the charming features.

Needs updating
This book needs a major overhaul. Information and photos are out-of-date. Very superficial information for anyone on the verge of buying and building. Printing quality is very poor -- some of the photos are so dark they are indistinguishable - copier quality in fact. For the first time ever -- I sent a book back for a refund.

Good home planning ideas...
I bought this book in search of new ideas to my exsisting designs.It opended my eyes to about 5 or 6 things I had not thought of and made it all worth it.The first 15 pages or so give a sort of virtual tour through some of the homes you will see later in the book, and all in full color! However, after that the rest of the book is in black and white (actually blue and white).(Note: If you are looking for a book of big houses and pictures of the interior, this book may not be what you are looking for. Only the first 15 or so pages provide that - the rest are floor plans and sketches of the outside view of the home) In addition, there is about 5-7 pages in the back where you can reference certain plans and inquire about the blueprints and building guides online or even order blueprints for contruction of most of the homes in the book. All in all, this book is a good tool that may not have exactly the layout you want, but might spark an idea that you could add to another layout.Many of the homes have pool houses, detached garages, maids quarters and other bonuses that the average home would not have.

Amazingly creative floor plans and great elevations to boot
This is my favorite house plans book!It's packed with floor plans ranging from about 3000 sqft. to over 11000 sqft.These plans are all full of creative ideas including great designs for the master bath and creative ways to design the kitchen.You will not be disappointed with the purchase of this book!

"Good House Hunting" - A great help to me and my customers!
I've come to realize over the 12 years of selling real estate what an emotional experience looking for one's dream home is, even for those who own several homes.For many people, it makes a statement to family and friends about who they are.Some people get so caught up in the fantasy of finding the "perfect home" that they never buy anything.This is especially true in a rural area where the inventory is limited, lacking charm and "soul" and where most of what gets sold ends up going through extensive renovations.

Tons and Tons of Ideas!
You will enjoy this idea packed book!Every picture is beautiful and inspiring!Mix and match the ideas, they don't all have to come from one home.Floor plans included, with builder and interior design resources given.Street of Dreams website (www.streetofdreams.com) tells you locations of when they will be in your neighborhood.A must see!

Does not Disappoint!
If you can't find your dream home in this book, it may not exist in any book!While it only contains 50 plans, every one is beautiful and unique. Each home is covered in four or more pages, with color photos of the frontand back of the home, inside, and of course, the floor plans. I wouldrecommend this book to anyone looking for a luxury home to build. Each onehas many details and there are homes ranging from 3,000 to almost 10,000square feet. I have had a hard time trying to find plans for homes over5,000 square feet, and a majority in this book fit that description. I wishI could find more like it. ... Read more

A ridiculously handy reference.
I've desired this since I had access to it in an office at which I once worked.Now it's in paperback, revised, and cheap.The editors have a great sense of which projects merit inclusion, offering some basic works and some slightly more radical projects.The brilliant system of scaling everything to the same ratio (and the clever, included transparent scale ruler) makes this truly an efficient reference manual and not just some more architectural pornography.
