5-0 out of 5 stars EXCELLENT!
Love this book, it will help a great deal.My home will soon be "the Linda Koopersmith of it all"!

3-0 out of 5 stars Great book - if you own a home
I was excited to buy this book after hearing rave reviews about it.When I got it, I set aside some time and started pouring over all the chapters.Unfortunately, I rent a small apartment with not a lot of storage, small closets, and not many cupboards.I figured this book would be perfect.Boy, was I wrong. If you don't have large closets, a ton of cupboards or a pantry, this book will be a waste of your money. The only good tips I got from it was how to fold my clothes, socks, etc., so that I could fit more in my drawers. The rest of it I skimmed through, and then put the book away since I couldn't use it.As I said, if you own a home, this book would be perfect for you.If you rent a small apartment with not a lot of closets and storage, then don't waste your money.

5-0 out of 5 stars Time to Get Organized
If you think you need a bigger house or a storage space, then you need this book instead. Here's what it covers:

5-0 out of 5 stars Best book of it's kind
Melissa Brayer Hess and Patricia Linderman truly deliver in The Expert Expatriate. If you are even considering a move overseas, read this to get a good look at the reality of such a life change and the preparation you should undertake.Be sure to read each of the inserts recounting personal experiences of expats all over the world! This book will help prepare you for succesful adaptation to any newenvironment and takes special consideration of the needs of the family and children. You will be impressed by, and surely grateful for, the relentlessly thorough content.Their advice is clearly based on the authors' extensive personal experience and my cherished copy wears a fringe of neon Post-It arrow markers.

3-0 out of 5 stars Great Knowledge for Temporary situations
I got the book because I am contemplating moving overseas, permanently. This book is wonderful for all those out there that are moving to a different country because of work, and will eventually be returning home. Though this book helped me a lot, It didn't cover a lot of things I needed to know, such as:

5-0 out of 5 stars Great Book on Dust Control and Collection Method
This book provides a complete and detailed writing on the methods for woodshop dust control methods. It covers different strategies for controlling dust from simple respiratory protection devices(masks), shop ventillation and air filtration and dust collecting machines (portable and central units).
5-0 out of 5 stars Details, details, details
Very good book.Unfortunately it brings up all the little details that I would have preferred not thinking about. Most people probably don't realize how dangerous dust is, and the author covers all the bases. After reading this book, you will have no excuses...

5-0 out of 5 stars Such a great help!
I had such a struggle with the concept of cleaning, having not learned while growing up.Cooking was my mother's better thing to do.This book really, really helped me to learn some techniques and gave me an idea of what and how to clean to be organized and complete for the weekly tasks.(There is also a Spring Cleaning book too for the annual cleaning tasks.)I tried out the methods described and bought the vacuum cleaner and other supplies and it really does work!I have only to figure out how to clean the shower door, which the cleaning products have not worked on for some reason -- maybe it is just the kind of door I have. But all else works as described.
4-0 out of 5 stars Haven't tried it Yet
I really liked all the ideas in this book, however, I haven't tried the techniques yet.The author makes it very clear that you need to follow the instructions exactly, including the products and tools used.So I feel like I need to buy a bunch of things first before I clean the house his way.Since I currently have a housekeeper, I'm planning to try this out a few times and see whether I can do without one.If so, it will save me a lot of money and using the techniques described in the book shouldn't take too much time.Definitely worth a try.

5-0 out of 5 stars Can I give it a 5+ rating? This is a recipe book for a clean house!
I love this book and have read and referenced it more than once. This book is cram packed with proven tips among professional house cleaners on making the most of your - oh so little time to do everything!Simple tips, easy to follow stategies will maximize your cleaning time, and allow you to do more in your day with less time and energy!Included are some super hints for carrying all your tools, a modified apron with all the pockets for trinkets and trash that you'll need. This is a super book to have whether you're a new spouse, or seasoned veteran of housecleaning!

5-0 out of 5 stars This book tells it all...
I bought this book for my young bachelor son; but after going through it, I am going to keep it and buy him another one.It is up to date on cleaning products, and tells you about so many things that most other books of this type don't tell you; such as, diagrams on how to iron, how to sew.It tells you when fruits and vegetables are in season and how to tell when they are ripe. I think it is the most complete book of it's kind that I have ever seen.It would be excellent for newly weds, bachelor sons or daughters just getting their 1st apartment. And it is great for someone that has been housekeeping for over 30 years...like me!!Buy it, you won't regret it!

5-0 out of 5 stars Stylish Storage and Organization Solutions
This is not your average 'get organized' book. While the pictures wow you, the text (unlike in many decor books) is incredibly helpful and a must read for any Martha fan. It should be noted that this is a compilation of the best of Martha's ideas from her "Living" magazine. Rather than clip pages, Martha has gathered the best of the best together in one beautiful book.

3-0 out of 5 stars Good Book with a Bad Title
It's a decluttering book, not a book about "from big to small" house downsizing matters as you might think from the title and cover picture. It is a pretty good decluttering book but the deception turned me off a bit.

5-0 out of 5 stars Too much stuff - Here's the Holy Grail of clutter relief
Moving to a smaller place forces you to view what you thought was important in the context of "What does it do to improve my life?". Is this important? How many clothes are hanging in the closet or packed in boxes? I had collector's board games (notice how I said collector's!). I got on E-Bay and Amazon and sold them. I have about 100,000 baseball cards. 99,950 of them are worthless. I have a stamp collection...books and books on stamp values. I only read the latest one so I had to be real and toss the historical ones. No one wanted them. I am also a book collector. This book, told me what to do with them. Amazon is going to make a fortune off my sales but so am I.
5-0 out of 5 stars This book is inspiring!
I bought this book (used) when I was in the middle of the packing process to move into a studio apartment.I wish I had this book at the beginning because it gave me the urge to purge things that I had just packed. I don't know why I was saving them when I hadn't looked at them in 5+ years, and I wasn't really interested in them anymore.I highly recommend this book.It covers an array of moving situations and excuses for hanging on to stuff. The authors come across as knowledgable and experienced. It's a great reference tool to keep on hand. ... 3-0 out of 5 stars She's the Queen, But...
I love Linda Cobb's cheery, enthusiastic attitude towards cleaning. But this book seems like it was written in a hurry, with inconsistent advice, very few explanations of procedures, and incomplete indexing. At one point, she says that vacuuming twice a week is essential, in another place, she says once a week is fine. Rarely is there an explanation as to why something works, or why something should be done in a certain way. And yikes! How to find alll the references to perspiration stains? Not in the index. You've got to sweat it out through the whole book to find all the suggestions. I truly hope the Queen writes a second edition with all the details I know she would like to impart.

2-0 out of 5 stars Great Idea -- Poor Execution
I bought Queen of Clean thinking that it would be a great resource guide. One would think the "Queen" of clean, could provide this bachelor with some organization and structure throughout the year.

Yes, cleaning is now fun!Ive had a housecleaning team for the past 8 years so I wasnt that interested in these types of books until I saw Haley on TV for KQED.He had so many ideas for organization that went beyond mopping the floors. The biggest money saving tip was removing marker on the walls (from my 2 year old) with hairspray.

5-0 out of 5 stars Long Live The Queen Of Clean!
This was the very first book that I read about house-cleaning and after all of these years, it is the first book that I turn to when I encounter a cleaning emergency. It's simple, straight-forward and witty and you feel that you're talking to a friend throughout. Her solutions to common everyday cleaning dilemmas are simple and they work!Highly recommend!

1-0 out of 5 stars Be careful unless your jobis finding, making and using cleaning products.
The book has some good ideas. one of the homemade solutions for cleaning the kitchen and tile was very good. However, some of the solutions are messy and you canbuy good commerical products that work as well if not better. Most of the homemade products take time to make and additional time to use and additional effort(elbow grease). A number of the commercial products she recommends are difficult to find and expensive. She champions the ACT Natural products. I found them to be expensive, their web page is not easy to use, and they did not answer their telephone during their self proclaimed business hours.

I bought the books in hopes it would help me figure out better ways to organize all my craft hobbies - stamping, scrapbooking, painting, etc.The book wasn't helpful at all.Has a few good pictures but didn't really explain some of the things used.Wish author went into more detail.

3-0 out of 5 stars Useful for inspiration, but not a lot of practical suggestions
Our craft room is a mess. We do a lot of crafts -- quilting, stained glass, woodworking, needlework. Most of the furniture in the room (built to be a bedroom) are castoffs from other parts of the house, or the inexpensive plastic drawers you get at an office supply company. We can never find what we want, and things are "stored" by piling them on the floor.

2-0 out of 5 stars Not worth it
The book had very little to do with organization. It dealt with how to declutter your home, but it did not explain how to reassemble it when all of the junk was removed. Also, only half of the book was dedicated to organization. The other half contained pictures of rooms that Mr. Lowell and company designed. It is more like a picture book than anything else.

5-0 out of 5 stars Where there is Fear, there is Clutter!!!
Mr. Lowell never ceases to amaze me. I was so inspired by this book that I am now in the process of reassessing and reorganizing my entire house!! And I am having fun doing it which is great. This book offers a completely painless, supportive place to change your pack-rat ways!!
5-0 out of 5 stars Excellent as always
Once again, Christopher Lowell goes beyond the technical side of design and organization and gives advice to those of us whom don't have a background in interior design. As a Interior Design student, I found that Christopher takes the technical side of organization and makes it "real" again. His views and eye for things is excellent, as always, and makes taking control of our environment easy and effective with step by step ideas and methods instead of putting things in a grand scope, which is how we became disorganized to begin with. ... 5-0 out of 5 stars The most informative book I've found yet.
I've read MANY how to start a cleaning business books and this is the best I have ever read. He gives pointers about bidding jobs for residential AND commercial contracts.Tells you how to go about getting business, some of the ways will surprise you. This is just what I was looking for. Pair this with Mr Aslett's Professional Cleaners Personal Handbook and even an experienced cleaner will benefit.

4-0 out of 5 stars Starting a Cleaning Business
Don Aslett covers many of the major points that anyone who wants to start a business should consider. He has obviously gained a thorough knowledge of the subject through many years of practical experience in the business. As a cleaning contractor who started in the same way as Don I disagree with some of his views regarding hiring and motivating staff although this may because of the different countries where we work (Reviewer resides in the UK). He advises buying products from local suppliers in order to recieve a good reliable service. This is always more expensive for the contractor and does not guarantee good service. His points regarding overspending on items such as vehicles etc is well founded and his advice is generally sound. It is an interesting read although to gain more knowledge on the subject an aspiring cleaner/entreprenuer will need to know much more about the subject before considering embarking on a cleaning career and setting themselves loose on an unwary public. He has covered the subject in other books he has written and this may be found there. All things considered his book is readable and quite informative and generally quite good value for your dollar.

3-0 out of 5 stars Not easily understood.
While the book does give a lot of valuable info toone starting out in the service business, it is not explained in enough detail. It leavea me with a lot of questions that I still can't find answers for.It should be followed by a book that will provide the answers to the serious minded service person. 5-0 out of 5 stars Being Messy Doesn't Make You a Bad Person
Most organizing books can't help implying that clutter and all-around personal messiness is a sign of moral weakness or a character defect. So no matter how well-intentioned the reader is when they start the book, they can't help feeling that there's something wrong with them for needing help organizing themselves in the first place. What's refreshing about this book is that Silber suggests the opposite--that right-brained messy people are more creative, fun and engaged than the uptight left-brained people who usually make them feel so completely inadequate. It's a relief not to be judged and found morally wanting simply for being messy.
3-0 out of 5 stars Just Okay
This book is fairly practical. The author has to have a hook - organizing for "right brainers." It gets a little old when he is constantly putting down the left brainers for not being creative.

5-0 out of 5 stars Hundreds of Tips on Moving That Just Might Work
Did you know, an estimated 42 million American's move each year?Jamie Allen and Kazz Regelman have done an amazing job of cataloging and categorizing hundreds of ideas from hundreds of people, some who have moved as many as thirty times.
5-0 out of 5 stars The best moving-related book I've ever read!
This is seriously an EXCELLENT book! I love the concept of soliciting stories/advice from people all across the nation because it practically guarantees you will find something (or, in my case, a LOT of somethings!) within these pages that you can relate to. The stories are funny, insightful and best of all, easy to read. Even if you're not moving, I'd recommend buying this book and reading it for future reference. Of course, if you know someone who is moving, this book would make an excellent gift!

5-0 out of 5 stars A great gift
Three of our good friends are moving this summer. Luckily, two are staying relatively close by but they still have to go through the whole drill - packing, moving houses, new schools, etc. I wanted to give them something but the last thing they needed was more stuff to move. I saw this book and bought three copies. Everyone loved it!
