Hard to follow
This book could be difficult for a beginner. The diagrams are sometimes hard to follow. So, I wouldn't buy this one as your first book on clock repair.

Don't buy this book here...they are way over priced!
I can't believe the price the two sellers are trying to get for this book; $50 and $99.Outrageous.Do yourself a favor and go to [...].It's exactly the same book at a cost to you of only $16.Now you understand why I'm amazed at how some people try to take advantage of others.I do buy quite a few books here at Amazon.com and have considered most to be a good deal.[...]

Funny _and_ helpful?A must-have
If you buy just one basic home-repair book, get this one; I couldn't believe that it would actually come in handy, but when my college ring fell down the sink, "Help! It's Broken" helped me save my jewelry and keep my sanity-- without calling a plumber.I was also happy to find that the guide came without the zzz factor of most home repair books; it's obvious the author put a lot of time into making sure readers wouldn't get bored or frustrated.
Awesome...Totally Got Me Out Of A Bind!
I just picked this up and didn't realize it would come in handy so soon...the easy to read instructions and tips help even the most accident-prone (like me) individual get through everyday breaks without having a breakdown!

Disappointed
There are some good ideas in this book, but many projects were not completed with a few simple sketches or explanations. Also too many of the projects were useless ideas. I also bought one for my daughter and she came to the same conclusion as I did. She said "Dad I think you wasted your money".

Excellent source of info
This book does not provide a lot of detail, but the informationit does provide covers everything from installing floors to skylightsto remodeling a whole room. The book is easy to read and does a good job of highlighting things to look for when attempting a job.I would use this book as a reference point before I start a project and then use the information it provides to delve further into the subject. ... A Rare Treat/ A Fine Bit of Fun, Funky, Funny, Philosophy

Scrapbooking Made Easy
This book is an excellent resource for both beginning scrapbookers and the more experienced.I especially found the discussions on color to be incredibly enlightening, and it will positively make a difference in my scrapbook pages yet to come!

A very good book for beginners
I am just getting started with making scrapbooks.I bought this bookbased on a review and I can't say I'm disappointed.It's easy to followand includes plenty of color examples.Ms. Rinner covers topics such asorganizing photos and events, design and layout concepts, journaling,freehand lettering, color enhancements, and more.I like most of all thatshe encourages the reader to find their own style - not simply copy otherpeople's work.This book was the one I needed.It also happens to be avery good bargain.

An Intro to Scrapbooking

A must for do-it-yourselfers
This book was the best I have ever seen of its kind (not that I necessarily collect these books). Just browsing through it, I picked up several useful tips; simple things, but I hadn't thought of them. For example, using a comb to hold tiny nails or brads (p. 24). Another example, filling the bathtub with water before caulking between it and the wall, to eliminate the tub's movement which would crack the caulk (p. 127). Read more

Finally! Do-able home projects for real people.
Now we take on that kitchen re-do we've been putting off since we moved in. For those of us who don't live in dream houses with unlimited budgets,most of the do-it-yourself books are just "wish books." This one,though, is as direct and basic as Hazelton's TV show. We especially likethe boxes at the start of each chapter that tell you how hard a project is,how much time it will take and what it will cost. The tips on tools,materials and especially preparation are great. Maybe now we can start aproject without stopping and running to the home supply store every 20minutes (and without re-mortgaging the house to pay a contractor to do thework). Virtually useless
The Windows program that comes with the book crashes constantly (even after letting it download the latest updates from the publisher's website), making it impossible to use. Without the program, the book is almost useless since the data is out of date and, unlike the program, it cannot be customized for a particular region of the country. ... Read more

Covers just about everything
This is a very comprehensive book. We are building an addition. This book was very detailed oriened yet fairly easy to understand. It covers everything from heating and air conditioning to duct work to repairs to explaining basic terms. Building withconfidence
Let me start by saying I didn't own this book until today. I have read my friend's copy and decided I must have it for an addition I'm planning on later this year. The book has been updated judging by the cover art. There are so many illustrations that help make the text easy to comprehend. I don't plan on doing everything by myself, but this book really breaks down all the steps necessary to building rooms, or even a complete home. I really liked all the tables, I feel like I have a good chuck of the tools that architects have. (I'm sure that will anger someone). The only thing I miss (and this is probably not practical for a book) is the California specific earthquake requirements. I think a book would have to be specific for this state, and even then it gets outdated with our ever changing laws and regulations.
