USELESS
With over 15 years of experience and up to date on all of the new product lines as well as the upper level machines, I must say that this book isn't worth the paper it is printed on.Most if not all of the information contained is readily available from the manufacturer of the appliance.If you have a more serious problem with your machine then you do in fact need a technician to inspect it and give you the options to repair it CORRECTLY or to purchase a new machine.Put your dollar to use and hire a real professional, with real, in the field experience.

Very good book but doesn't cover the latest u'processor TV's
Does a good job of covering service procedures and equipment and includes some theory. However, it does not cover more current TV's that have microprocessor control and one big chip that provides all the signals, e.g horizontal, vertical etc. ... Read more

This is a TOP Restoration and Information Guide
I have checked and I have wired phones by this book and found that if you use a "network", as suggested, then there are no problems. The suggested "networks" are still available and being used on phones all over the US. As far as ruining an antique, it depends on your criteria. If you want an Old Telephone to work on modern circuits, then YES, you have to modify it. On the most popular Auction site, a properly restored crank telephone can cost up to $500, whereas the original can be purchased for $200 to $300. Anyways, I can't tell you how many times I've opened this book. It takes you step by step through the operating processes of old telephones so that, even if your exact phone is not covered, you will be able to use the information on your phone. I use it to: see where parts, labels, screws, and missing items should be by comparing my phones to the photos and diagrams. Also, I have successfully converted crank phones to work on modern circuits. You will learn why you just can't connect old crank phones and candlestick phones to modern circuits, and what modifications , or extra parts, you need to do so. You learn what you can expect by using the original transmitter and receiver vs. after market items. Not only do I use the book for the wiring and restoration knowledge, but I also use it to identify phones, parts, and the age of some of my phones. If your phone is missing the inside wiring guide, this book will help you. If it doesn't , identify as much as you can and do a web search for FREE wiring diagrams.

Bad Book!
I checked with the local telephone man and the drawings on how to hook up the telephone are illegal and can get you hurt. The restoration methods will damade the telephone and a collector will not want your phone. I feelthat this book is a sham and would not recommend it. If you are looking forsome help restoreing a old telephone check out your local telephonecollecting group.
