just okay
this book is okay -- the projects are very ordinary and the fabric shown is not very designer like.There were some good project ideas but nothing very splashy.Much better books available.

Excellent instructions, fun to read
As a former technical writer, I am very critical of most instructional materials.This book, however, contains the best organized, clearest, most thorough, and best illustrated instructions I have ever seen.As an experienced sewer, I was impressed by the many sewing tips that I picked up from this book.The sections on decorative trims and buttons and buttonholes were especially helpful.The book was simply fun to read.The layout is pleasing, and the writing style is casual without being condescending or chatty.The ideas for window treatments are wide-ranging and creative.I originally borrowed this book from the library; now I'm going to buy a copy for myself.

This book will make a good addition to any home sewer's library. It's written with a clearly British flavor (flavour?. The instructions are clear and easy to follow. How to's for most of the more common types of treatments are addressed. The authors describe hardware options and illustrate several unexpected and very clever ways to dress your windows. The artwork and photography are well done with some useful decorating suggestions demonstrated. It's not limited to only fabric. Several types of non-fabric treatments are included with some easy to duplicate painting techniques. This book would make a great gift for a new bride or a young person moving into there own place. ALL the House Beautiful books are a great resource!!
I own most of the House Beautiful books and I just love them!! This one has so many great ideas for people just moving into a new home and ready to design their own space, or for those just wanting to add to their already stylish surroundings. I have clips marking pages throughout all my books and the clips come off and change pages as time passes. It's amazing that I keep finding new ideas, every time I look at this book! transform your house with ease
I bought this book because it looked easy to use.I am not very creative and thought it would give me some good ideas on how to make my home look warm.In a very short time I was able to make my house a home.This book is wonderful and very easy to follow, so easy even I did it.I would highly recommend this book to anyone who just wants to have a good time with there home decor.With Christmas right around the corner I have bought several copies for friends.Have a good time with this one..Thanks

Tremendously Disappointed
I just received my order and I am terribly disappointed ... I tried to research this book the best I could, (the only thing I did not do was to physically go to a bookstore and look through it, which as I have a seriously disabling illness it is very difficult for me to get out much). I do approximately 90-95% of all of our shopping online, so I am used to making purchases online. I felt that the title of this book "Two-Hour Window Treatments" lends one to believe that there would be instructions within the book itself.I was amazed at how few instructions were included.The book has good bones, it is a shame that the title leads one to believe something that isn't so.I agree the price on this book was very fair for what it offers, it is just that once again, the title suggests it offers differently than it does.I would suggest within the description that there be a notation that if one is looking for instructions for window treatments ... then this is NOT THE BOOK FOR THEM, however, if they are looking for ideas ... Very helpful
I found this book very helpful.It helped me see the differences between styles of curtains, and then, by having the pictures of the many, many fabric choices in the directory below the line drawings of the curtains, I was able to see the tremendous impact of the different patterns.For example, I could easily see the difference between "town blues" and "country reds" for any given style.It is a great visualization tool, and could help prevent some expensive mistakes.If I'd had a similar book for upholstery, perhaps I wouldn't have wasted so much money reupholstering that darn green plaid couch!The swatch looked great, but oh my, talk about impact!

Deserves less than a star
This book was a mega disappointment.Its binding was of inferior quality and didn't provide any 'actual swatches'; just photocopies of fabrics...you can get that from any fabric website for free.Putting a square patterned paper next to a diagram of a window treatment do not work with trying to picture how the actual thing will look. You're better off closing your eyes and visualizing on your own.If you're totally at a loss for ideas, many other curtain books are much better than this waste of paper. ... Read more
