3-0 out of 5 stars Intimate Weddings: Planning a small wedding that fits you budget and style
I thought it had many good ideas, although some were unrealistic.

5-0 out of 5 stars Great resource for having a small wedding
I especially liked reading about the experiences of others' "real-life" weddings - getting ideas from what they did, seeing the breakdown of their budget - it really helped set realistic goals for my own budget.Well worth the time and money to read this book.

5-0 out of 5 stars An Excellent Resource, Great Ideas, Inspiring
If you are holding off getting married due to financial concerns, hold off no longer. I found enough advice in this one book to take our own wedding plans off the "hold" button. Intimate, small and personal is in. Intimate Weddings is like having your own wedding planner, whose mission is to save you time and money while helping you find that personal edge to make your day as individual as you are. You CAN have a wedding without racking up new debt and without spending the better part of a year working toward that one special day. Read the book: along with cost and time-saving tips, you'll learn how to get the best deals, including destination weddings, indoor and outdoor ceremonies, and more. Thanks Christina for showing us how to go against the grain. Smaller is definitely better. ... Read more

1-0 out of 5 stars Not a single thing I would do
Thank goodness I checked this book out from the library before buying it!I flipped through the whole 250-page book in literally 15 minutes. There is a ton of print in teeny tiny font.Personally, I don't care that much for what Colin Cowie has to say, I am more interested in the pictures that he gathers to give a visual image of a wedding.I didn't read any of it because it was so small and there seemed to be so much that I can only imagine how much useless filler was in there.
5-0 out of 5 stars I got this book for a different reason
While this book is a FANTASTIC book for those who want inspiration for those starting a wedding... I bought this book for an entirely different reason. I am an artist and I am always looking for books with fantastic photography to help inspire my drawings and paintings. This book has some AMAZING photography and has some absolutely sensual moments. The mood is set throughout the book, very full of life and sensuality and unbelievably fresh. The array of flowers, the silkiness of the dresses, the ambience of the swagging fabrics, the smoothness of the linen tablecloths, it is all eye candy.
5-0 out of 5 stars Wonderful !
Great for a visually inspired person as well as having some great text to help you in the planning and execution of this important day.Read more

3-0 out of 5 stars elegant but not inspiring
This is a book about bouquets, not wedding flowers overall. The title is misleading. The picutres are very simple and well laid out however, I did not find that there were many original ideas in this book. They bouquets were super simple and clean.I like a little more flair than what was presented in this book.If you like that very plain look, than this is for you.

5-0 out of 5 stars Wedding Flower Books
I have been going through several wedding flower books and I find this one to be the best! They have realistic arrangments for people on a budget and they give a list at the back of the book as to what flowers are in season when. They also show several diffent greenery items you can use.It is great!

5-0 out of 5 stars Very Helpful
I can already tell that this book is going to ensure a huge success at my friend's wedding. We are doing all of the flowers and the book has given us great ideas and lovely pictures. I compared it to other books and it seemed to have the most color pictures in it, which help when you are following the photos. Just like several of the other books by the Knot.com it is well organized and has great check lists and timelines. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Planning a medieval Party?
If you are planning a Medieval Celebration of any kind this is a great book to buy. My Fiancee and I have been looking for medieval books to plan our wedding by and I stumbled across this one its been very helpful and I'm sure it will get alot of use. It has many tradations recipes and lots of fun games a must have.

3-0 out of 5 stars So-So Information for Event Planning
My fiance and I purchased this book as we are planning a medieval wedding. The title and description of this book implied that we would find lots of valuable information on that topic. Well, we found lots of valuable information for feast planning, or putting on a re-enactment (a la Society for Creative Anachronism), and very little concerning period wedding traditions. The most interesting parts were the recipes/redactions and the instructions for medieval dance steps. There are also several pages that contain sheet music for period songs. If you are looking to put on a reenactment or feast, this is the book for you. If you are looking for anything else, I suggest you look elsewhere. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Great help for an MOG
After relying heavily on Sharon Naylor's "Mother of the Bride" book for my daugher's wedding last year, I am just as impressed with her new book just in time for my son's wedding next summer. Great, practical tips for an odd situation as an MOG.

5-0 out of 5 stars A Joy to be the Mother-of-the-Groom
Mother of the Groom by Sharon Naylor is a godsend for the woman whose son is about to be married and who wants to do the "right thing."How to chose a dress (even plus size), what to offer to pay for, and many other delightful and helpful facts are spelled out with wit and style.I found myself consulting Mother of the Groom over and over as our son's wedding approached.Sharon's wonderful insights helped make his wedding day extra special.

5-0 out of 5 stars Bye-bye beige dress!
FINALLY!A comprehensive resource for the mother of the groom.I was sure I was destined to have only the old adage "wear a beige dress and keep your mouth shut" as my only advice. But thanks to Ms. Naylor, I have lists and charts and an entire appendix full of internet sites to refer to in my planning.Thank you for coming to the aid of grooms' mothers everywhere! ... 3-0 out of 5 stars Like it, but repetitive
Overall, I enjoyed this book.It was fun, but also provided only superficial coverage of wedding planning. My primary issue with this book is that if you are the type of person who gathers information, which in regard to your wedding would include looking through magazines, talking to vendors, talking to others who have had a wedding, et cetera, then most of the material (information and pictures) in this book will be repetitive. If you are considering buying this as a gift, it will make a nice gift and will likely be appreciated, (and perhaps placed in a basket or out on a table to be flipped through periodically). If you are buying this for yourself, I would recommend saving the money by borrowing it from the library. All in all, if you never saw this book prior to your wedding, you probably wouldn't be missing anything.

5-0 out of 5 stars Packed with customizing tips brides will relish
If you haven't heard of Jo Gartin, you should know her name: she was listed by Vogue Magazine as 'best wedding coordinator and has contributed her wedding plans and tips to many women's magazines across the country. With her background in fashion design lending a professional flair to her ideas, WEDDINGS: AN INSPIRING GUIDE FOR THE STYLISH BRIDE comes packed with customizing tips brides will relish.
5-0 out of 5 stars Fresh and fun
I'm nearing the end of my wedding planning experience, and I'm getting pretty burnt out on wedding planning books. But I loved this book, and found it a truly helpful breath of fresh air. It is written in a familiar style that makes you feel like you are talking to Jo.

4-0 out of 5 stars So Far So Good
I am about half way into the book and for the most part I am really finding it enjoyable and comforting. However, being a bride that has been living with her future husband for several years I find that some of the concepts do not pertain to me. Otherwise, highly reccommend the book for brides-to-be. It helps you realize you aren't the only one feeling this way!

2-0 out of 5 stars Didn't finish it
As a 26 year old bride to be I did not relate to anything in this book.I didn't even finish it.She gave great advice with reminding her readers to say "I love you" everyday to thier spouse- but besides that I didn't really know what she was talking about.I could see the emotions surfacing in individuals who were maybe a little older- not to offend- but thoes that had been on their own for a long time before getting married.I was dissapointed.

5-0 out of 5 stars loved it!
I'm so glad that I found this book. It so articulated so many of my feelings during this period of preparation for marriage. Marg shares so many interesting stories and then gives easy to apply advice. This book really should be required reading for any bride to be. I am recommending it to brides to be and newlyweds.. I believe that so many people would benefit from the ideas in this contempary commentary on marriage. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars This book is a must have for all new brides!
I saw this book advertised online and I bought it at our local book store when I became engaged. If you are a bride to be or in love or just love romance? This is the book for you the stories will tug at your heart strings, make you laugh, cry and even think about your new love. I am getting married this Nov 04 and the stories are AWESOME!
5-0 out of 5 stars The Important Things
Upon reading this book, I am immediately reminded of how strong the bond between couples in love must be, and how they can be.The stories in "Bride's Soul" consistently serve to regenereate and reinforce the fact that a lifelong love becomes a relationship in which the importance of the individual's existence gladly takes a back seat to the value of the couple's happiness together.

3-0 out of 5 stars Another great addition from Martha
For devotees, this planner yet another great addition to the library of Martha.I am planning my wedding for June 2007 and use it to keep track of all my "current" clippings, vendors and planning notes.Though I do like the included planning sections, most modern brides will find themselves keeping track of their guests/budget/vendors on spreadsheets so all the extra creamy white pages will probably be discarded.
3-0 out of 5 stars I found a better one
Ok so I've been looking for the right binder for a while. I'm doing an Indian wedding so I wanted something that can cover ALL the questions. "The Bride's Essential Wedding Planner - Deluxe edition" by Amy Nebens is a better one.
5-0 out of 5 stars Great Planner!
All other planners I looked at were either too small, or had a really gaudy, loud cover on them. This one is absolutely perfect with a beautiful, understated light-green cover and room for information given by vendors on 8.5X11 paper. I think one of the most helpful things is the flower section...divided by color with beautiful pictures and a description of each kind. So helpful for someone like myself who doesn't know a whole lot about flowers! Also helpful are the plastic sheets that hole business cards and other misc. items. I love this planner! ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars A Beautiful Depiction of Grace Kelly's Wedding Dress
This book gives a very detailed representation of Grace Kelly's Wedding Dress. It also gives lots of details of the events leading up to her wedding day.It is not a biography of her life.It focuses on her wedding day and the events leading up to it with the wedding day itself being the culmination.

3-0 out of 5 stars Grace Kelly - Icon of Style
I was a bit disappointed when I received the book as I thought it would have more colored pictures of her wardrobe. Many were in black and white. The photos of her wedding dress were lovely though -- I guess that was the true focus of the book.

2-0 out of 5 stars a good book about princess Grace wedding
i think this book does not give us a different view about Grace Kelly. It is only a book related to the wedding dress and some miscelaneous comentaries about her life. You can find some good photos about Grace, but nothing else. If you are a great Grace fan like me, perhaps you would like to buy next book about Grace : Grace Kelly, a life in pictures, by Pierre Henry Verlhac.

5-0 out of 5 stars The only book on wedding bouquets I needed!
This little paperback had more stunning bridal bouquet ideas than all the other expensive hardbound books I bought put together. While I understand that florists may find the lack of instructions or specific flower names frustrating - it was simply perfect for a bride looking for designs from simply elegant to wildly creative.I would recommend it to all brides as well as to all florists looking for a nice compilation of exquisite bouquets.

3-0 out of 5 stars Great Pictures
If you are looking for pictures of bouquets this is the book for you.Watch out though. This book is a compilation of bouquets from a popular wedding magazine produced in the UK and they often use the true botanical name instead of the common flower names as we know them.No instruction but they do list the style of bouquet and flowers in them.Great to get ideas from.

3-0 out of 5 stars Wedding Bouquets -- Over 300 Designs for every bride
The photos are excellent but the specifics are poor.As a florist, I wanted to know the exact name of each rose color, and would have liked the botanical name of the flowers as well.Although the editorial review says there are price indicators, I have not found them & have read every page. This would have been helpful info, too.A side view of each bouquet would be informative also. The "language of flowers" info is repetitive and could have been listed in a table at the back of the book. And I've never had a bride pick her flowers based on their meaning anyway. But it's a good book to show brides for ideas. ... 5-0 out of 5 stars Great Resource Book!
I've lost track of the number of weddings that I've conducted or assisted using this book.My wife and I originally used it to find readings for our own wedding 16 years ago.Since then, I've given it to many about-to-be-wedded couples, and they inevitably love it.An uncommonly thoughtful and wide selection of great quotes & readings.

2-0 out of 5 stars Not the best by far
I'm giving this a low score because the cover claims that the selections are specifically for wedding readings, both traditional and informal. I agree with another reviewer: the few excerpts I liked and could use in a ceremony all appeared in other collections. I'd recommend this only to someone who is reading about love and marriage for a peek into other times and traditions...not to gather readings for a ceremony. The texts were certainly interesting and educational, but most are only appropriate for self-conciously nontraditional events, very brave readers, and highly literate guests. Lots of archaic langauge and rather overwrought expressions of love. I'm planning a small, casual wedding and many of the guests are writers also. I'd be embarassed to have most of these readings presented, so I'm returning my copy. If you're researching wedding rituals or are looking for quotes for an article oncommitment through the ages, this might be good for you. If you're a busy-wedding-planning bride looking for some readings that will engage but not challenge your guests, I'd recommend looking at other guides.

3-0 out of 5 stars Pretty but not perfect
I bought this wedding planner after reading the reviews and agreeing that I wasn't looking for a guidebook with advice as much as important checklists and a place to keep everything organized. While I like the general layout there are a few problems:1-0 out of 5 stars Not that great
If you are looking for something to help you keep all the information for a big event like a wedding, this book is just not it.If you are looking for something like a keepsake, then this is what you are looking for. There is no place to keep information while you are actually planning the wedding.I wish I would have bought something else.

5-0 out of 5 stars great help
great way to organize. we used this and weddingchannle.com to keep everthing organized and in check. having a scrapbook/organizer prevents you from loosing great ideas and plans already laid out ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Adorable Wedding Planner
I absolutely love this wedding planner.I was doing some searching for the most flexible one and found this 3 ring binder type.It is a soft cover binder comes with a bunch of sections (adorably named) to help you organize (All About the Bride, Ceremony, Reception, Wedding Party & Guests, Flowers Music & Photography, etc.)Each section has it's own plastic storage folder as well as page templates for each section (whether it's to list thank you notes or make a seating chart/list for the reception). The book also provides little hints/tips to help you keep things organized and eventful.

5-0 out of 5 stars A terrific resource - made my life so much easier! And a beautiful wedding.
I was asked to officiate for my brother (who grew up Jewish) and his fiance (who grew up Protestant), as neither of them are religious, but wanted to have a wedding that both families would feel comfortable with. After getting ordained online, I had a huge challenge ahead of me - how to do something beautiful, personal, and would make everyone happy.Well, this book did it for me!It's about 1/3 explanations on wedding ceremonies and things to be aware of that could be sensitive to either side, 1/3 sample ceremonies, and 1/3 a whole bunch of suggested pieces/readings/explanations under each ceremony component - 7 ideas you could use here, 4 ideas here...It made creating their ceremony a breeze, eliminating many of the expected arguments/discussions, and led to a beautiful ceremony. Thanks Rabbi Lerner!!!

5-0 out of 5 stars Great resource!
I am a Catholic woman marrying a Jewish man.We were very fortunate that my priest was supportive of our marriage and provided me with the standard Catholic booklet outlining the typical components of a Catholic wedding. But we were being married outside of the traditional mass and wanted to include my fianc's Jewish heritage as well. The rabbi we were working with suggested this book.It is a great tool to help in the planning process.Rabbi Lerner provides an explanation of various traditions, gives a few sample outlines and then includes an appendix with various wording for each part of the ceremony.I could not have planned the Jewish half of our ceremony without this book!

5-0 out of 5 stars Making Interfaith Marriage Ceremony Inclusive
This was a very helpful book with information about laws and culture that help make the ceremony inclusive and comfortable for families of different faiths. I highly recommend this book; I bought it for our children who will be getting married in the spring. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Great Ideas for a Maid of Honor Beginner!
The friend I chose to be my Maid of Honor had never been in a wedding party before, and so I knew she'd need a little help/instruction in knowing what her duties would include. This is a great little book that has helped her be an amazing Maid of Honor. In addition, the book has a great look to it, and really isn't very expensive. In asking someone to be in your wedding, why not give them this book and ask them in an inscriptioninside the front cover?

5-0 out of 5 stars Great Gift for your Bridesmaids
I was looking for a small gift to send my bridesmaids and I came across this book. It is a fun little guide for those new to the wedding world,as some of my bridesmaids are. As a wedding novice myself, being the first of my friends to marry,it was a good heads up on what to ask of my attendants and what mistakes to avoid. The feedback from my bridesmaids has also been very positive, they enjoyed the light witty style mixed with the helpful guide. I am very glad I found this book and would suggest it to anyone who wants to treat their bridesmaids!

5-0 out of 5 stars Great for the first-time bridesmaid and a witty read
Ibought this after being asked to be a MOH in the first wedding I'd been to in years. It was a fun read and laid out every step for a novice like myself - I bought another at the same time but barely read it.If you want to make the whole thing go smoothly, get points for being an awesome bridesmaid, and get some laughs all the while, this is the book to pick. I plan on keeping it in my purse all through my next bridesmaid gig! ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars lThe best house plant book ever!
I now have several copies and use them for gifts. This and a houseplant make a great shower or wedding gift.

5-0 out of 5 stars Many photos and expert advice
This is a great book for Northerners, in those cold, heater-dry places that many tropical beauties can only limp along. Now that I live in Costa Rica, you throw something in the ground and it's a bush the next day.
2-0 out of 5 stars an OK reference - not in depth
As a college student I purchased this book just to learn a thing or two about how to keep a plant alive, and it's been an ok reference through the years. However, now that I have more plants, I'm finding I want more information and this book is not doing it.Troubleshooting is difficult because of the limited amount of information - this book makes broad strokes over the many types of houseplants, but gives little in-depth information about each.A fine reference for those who aren't very serious about their plants;if you are serious enough to actually remember the names of your plants, you might want to try something else. ...
