5-0 out of 5 stars It was almost better than my own honeymoon!
Franz Wisner AND his brother are funny, smart and so very brave!I found this book in the travel section of my local bookstore, but it very much deserves its place on the NY Times Bestseller List (where it's been for 15 straight weeks at the time of this review).Move that book to the front of the store! You will love this book for several reasons:
1-0 out of 5 stars Good Title: Bad Book
Not witty enough to be funny. Not deep enough to be heartfelt. Not written well enough to have been published.I got a great idea why his fiance dumped him and why his boss demoted him, but I have no idea why any editor gave the 'thumbs up' to this mess.I gave the one star for the title. It was the most interesting part of the book.

1-0 out of 5 stars Some good info, but basically outdated
I'm in the process of planning a wedding in Jamaica and was hoping for some suggestions. The basics are covered in the book but it is from 1995.It suggests going to the library and travel agents for help and brouchures. It would have been nice if it mentioned the internet at all.It is geared toward inexperienced travelers. Overall I wouldn't recommend it only because the information can be found through any wedding site.

1-0 out of 5 stars Waste of time andmoney
If you are looking for the proper way to handle the logistics of a wedding away, this is NOT the book for you.It was really useless!!

3-0 out of 5 stars OK if you have no other resources
This is a great book for the novice traveller.I did not find anything very useful. It also has a few pages for each location.Certainly not useful for my Scotland wedding as it had 5 total pages for Europe! I only paged through this book and was very disappointed. ... Read more

4-0 out of 5 stars Good.... could be better.
I enjoyed reading Tabb and Silverstein's Beyond Vegas quite a bit. While some chapters ended up relatively untouched for personal reasons (Wyoming ski lodge elopement, too cold: New Mexico kiva ruins shindig, too weird), all the ideas were creative and well thought out. I can only think of one chapter that seemed like something anyone could have thought of (Ch. 1, wedding in a castle in Scotland).
5-0 out of 5 stars The best eloping book out there
If you are considering eloping, I highly recommend that you get your hands on a copy of Beyond Vegas. It is the best book that is out there on the subject. Though it may be more popular if the title reflected better what it was about. 3-0 out of 5 stars Good but you can do better...

3-0 out of 5 stars Good but not enough
I bought this book hoping that it would help me to pick a honeymoon place around the world. Even though it has a lot of good information it lacks at variety of places in terms of price. If you are looking to spend 600 to 3000 a night for your honeymoon, this book has it all.
2-0 out of 5 stars Waste of time and money
This book seems like a collection of glossy travel brochures. There is little information given for comparison (e.g. trying to decide which region to go to) and a lot of the text is repeated verbatim for many of the resorts. The 'useful information' provided for each resort includes things such as "the gift shop has an excellent collection of souvenir t-shirts." I really doubt anyone is choosing their wedding/honeymoon destination based on this. However, my biggest problem with this book is that it seems to favor certain resort chains, which makes me question its objectivity. Specifically, 2 Sheraton resorts that we have visited in Hawaii on previous vacations were given superb reviews. In our experience, they were a little run-down (with the rooms in sore need of renovation) and had below average facilities (obviously a beautiful natural setting, but disappointing swimming pools, etc).Fine for a four-day getaway, but I would have been very disappointed had I read this review and gone there for my honeymoon or wedding. This makes me question the accuracy of the other writeups in the book.

5-0 out of 5 stars Great overview... good starting place for trip-planning...
This book has provided me with a fantastic starting point for honeymoon-planning... As someone who has had a fairly extensive and diversified travel "portfolio", I have found this book to be very helpful in providing me with ideas for new and exotic places to visit. It's not packed with too much information, but gives enough of an overview to let you know whether you would like to pursue more details or if the hotel is not quite what you are looking for...

5-0 out of 5 stars If You Ever Travel Get This Book!
The New Honeymoon Planner by Sharon Naylor is perhaps the most thorough and helpful general travel guidebooks I have ever discovered. It is perfect for the groom or couple planning a honeymoon, whether a luxury trip or on a tight budget. However, it is NOT just for honeymooners! It has excellent trip planning tips for EVERY kind of trip, and you will save many, many times over the price of the book ($16.95 US) in the first trip Sharon's tips help you plan. She has covered every kind of travel, both domestic and foreign and every kind of trip from luxury cruises to back-packing in the jungles. And she directs you to a wealth of internet sites that will answer any problem you could ever encounter on a trip or supply any need for the travels. THIS BOOK SHOULD BELONG TO EVERYONE WHO PLANS ANY KIND OF TRIP TO ANYWHERE!

5-0 out of 5 stars We found our adventure honeymoon!
We couldn't find anything really adventurous that we wanted to do on our honeymoon -- we'd read about scuba diving, snorkeling, paradsailing in travel articles, but we didn't find THE destination for us until we read through this book and found four or five great islands that were perfect. Even better, this book has a giant contact sheet, so it took us no time at all to get to the islands' Web sites and request info. So we're off to the Seychelles next summer for our honeymoon! We can always go to Belize or to Thailand on another vacation. This is a great book for anyone who wants to do something really original on their honeymoon...and then keep these suggestions around for future travel plans. This is one wedding book I'm not handing off to my other engaged friends! I'm keeping this one!

5-0 out of 5 stars Great ideas!
My fiance and I aren't really into the island honeymoon scene, and we heard that this book has a ton of suggestions about cruises, spas, travel abroad, adventure trips. And this book is great!...especially the big cities section that talks about great places in the United States to visit. The list of Websites to check out is enormous, and we loved the packing section. This is a great handbook -- very useful, filled with ideas and a big time-saver. Get this one and use it again for your 1st anniversary vacation. ... Read more

2-0 out of 5 stars Lots here, but it's confusing and sloppy at times
I was thrilled to find a book that was exactly what I needed, but a bitfrustrated when I dug into it.For one, I couldn't even decipher how thebook is supposed to be organized from the Table of Contents.Anotherexample:the book shows maps of the various counties of NorthernCalifornia, but it never shows them in relation to one another or the stateas a whole. It would be like showing you all the pieces of a jigsawpuzzle, but never showing you what it's supposed to be when it's puttogether!!If you're from out of the area, you're out of luck! With abook that's this poorly edited I don't trust some of the criticalinformation. For example, can I REALLY bring a marriage license from outof state? There are lots of good leads here. But lots of follow-up will beneeded.

4-0 out of 5 stars Good information, Poor editing
This is a wonderful book for anyone who is looking for a winery location for a wedding in Sonoma, Napa, or the San Francisco Bay area. The lists are thorough, and the descriptions helped my fiance and I narrow down our choices without taking several days to explore the myriad of area sites ourselves. We did find that some of the information was out of date, such as a winery which no longer hosts weddings and some phone numbers which were incorrect (all seven digits, not a typo). All told, however, the black and white photographs are a good introduction to the "personalities" of the wide variety of options in this increasingly popular area. 5-0 out of 5 stars Absolutely Totally Helpful
This book was absolutely totally helpful when I was trying to figure out where to go for my destination wedding last month .My travel agent (I tried 2) didn't know which places had special wedding programs but this book did.Unfortunately, the book is a couple of years old so when I contacted the places some of the prices and programs had changed but it wasn't that different and the book wasstill enormously helpful and saved me a lot of time.In the end, I chose one of the places in the book that they said did free weddings (this book told you a lot about these resorts) so it was the best $20 I spent in my wedding and honeymoon planning

2-0 out of 5 stars Only buy this if interested in a Carribean Wedding
This book is okay if you are interested in a Carribean wedding (most resorts are in Jamaica), however, the pricing is already off if some cases up to $1,000.I was very disappointed to see that there were very few destination sites other than tropical. The title should be The Most Romantic Tropical Resorts for Destination Weddings. However, there are a plethora of resorts listed and if you are aching for a beach wedding it gives you plenty of options.

1-0 out of 5 stars Don't waste your money
This book was a waste of money. The layout was horrible and the information provided extremely general. You're better off using a wedding or travel magazine and a good search engine. ... Read more
